  • Bill,
That's a great outlook on life man. You're setting yourself up to enjoy it more than hate it. I respect that.

You were one of the first people I got into it with on this board. It was a scary thing, let me tell you.

But thats cool man. A good outlook can go a long way.

Dude, most of us lived through the 80s; that was pretty much the uniform in L.A.!

      • I just recently turned 40. I used to not care about or value other people opinions. I was self centered, bigoted, and a racist. I didn't strive to be any of those things, it was just how I was raided and the environment I grew up in.

Once I hit 35 or so I started to grow a little wisdom and realized that people are people, no matter what race, colour or religion. I learned not to sweat the little shit you can't control.

I'm much happier and more relaxed than at any point in my life. Which means I'm probably due to have a heart attack any time lol.

        • A great model for living...

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace!
          That where there is hatred,
          I may bring love.
          That where there is wrong,
I may bring the spirit of forgiveness.
          That where there is discord,
          I may bring harmony.
          That where there is error,
          I may bring truth.
          That where there is doubt,
          I may bring faith.
          That where there is despair,
          I may bring hope.
          That where there are shadows,
          I may bring light.
          That where there is sadness,
          I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort,
          than to be comforted.
          To understand,
          than to be understood.
          To love,
          than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.

Well Bengal , I take it one day at a time. Some days are harder than others. Yeah, I bumped heads with a few people. I don't remember exactly why or what, and I don't remember ours..but that's a good thing. That was then, this is now. Different POVs does not outweigh any probs I have goin' on now. Besides, I'm trying to set the best example I can for our 13 year old son. He's alot like me and this is a very crucial time in his life. I remember when I was 13..That's when Van Halen and Vaginas just came out!!!

I was a VERY angry guy. I permenantly damaged my spine helping people that didn't like me, and protected them from people nobody likes. I'm a very cynical and street/people smart guy...which is not always a good thing. I have zero fear for humans, which means I say whatever I feel without worry. I was addicted to constant, high dodes of adrenalinie. When that rush was gone, I created drama to get it..here and everywhere. I still like a fix now and then..but I learned to pick my battles. I became a member here when I just retired and was full of piss and vinegar. That was about 7 years ago. I always used my smarts for people I didn't care about because that was my job. Now I could finally apply that to people I do care about..my friends.

There may be a few here that still hold a grudge. A grudge can be like a cancer..and can consume your energy they don't even know they're getting.

            • Bill,
No grudge at all here. I don't remember what started it either. I'm sure I ran my mouth off at something you posted about and there it went.

I remember you being pissed and a lot of people "standing around" going Kick His Ass Bill and He don't know who he's messing with.

All I remember from you was something about being buttraped and drinking spooge or something like that. It was very quick.

But you're a cool dude. I use to be taken back by you but now I get it. It's all good brother.

How do you feel about the text below?

Yard Dawg I am asking you, is this a Republican Forum?
Is there a double standard? That post was moved before this post came up. In fact I moved 6 posts from this forum. That poster has been suspended for 30 days and possibly permanently.

Note the last post I made copying thie rules. Again this thread was NEVER intended to be a religous debate but some people here have turned it into that.

I don't care if you're Christian, Muslim, Buddist, Hindu or athiest, you all have the right to be here. It's not a christian board it's a fukking guitar board...
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

                  • okay.
i do understand the overall thought about bashing and the idea of protecting members and helping all feel welcome. a rather daunting task and an important one.

all should feel welcome here, definitely. and from what i've seen in the four years i've been here this is a very warm and welcome family. there are a few (a lot) screws loose, and some definite bastards in the bunch. sure. that is to be expected among guitarists. har!

but if you want my two cents, K, it's this. and this coming from a definite minority, not only here, but in all of guitardom.

i believe that people should be allowed to say whatever the hell they want to say in a public forum.
and people should be allowed to have whatever public siggy they want.
offensive? do you know how many sigs i could take offense at on this whole damn board, being a woman? HAHAHAHA! ridiculous.
if people get offended for what is shared in public that is their own personal problem and maybe they would feel more comfortable somewhere else.

nobody is forced to read anything here. and one certainly does not have to be involved in any heated discussion so maybe i just don't understand the problem too well. ? hellifiknow.

                    xoxo.

                        • Rich, where in this thread have Christians been bashed? Seriously, I challenge a lot of the assertions you make and I've referenced scripture to support my points and note what I consider holes in yours. I don't believe I or anyone else has been hostile towards any actual Christians. I have my reservations about a lot of what I've seen organized religions do and when it comes up I tend to chime in.

This may surprise you but I have absolutely nothing but love for good people whether they are Christians, Jews, random heretics, or Martians. In fact, if I had to pick a team, I'd be on the Christian team because my beliefs are for the most part in line with the current trends of Bible interpretation. I just don't associate anyone's faith with any sort of expected behavior because I've had all sides s how me good and bad.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

                          • Good golly Miss Molly, I get home from the office and all kinds of threads have been removed, people are bent like a boomerang, and the JCF is rumbling more than the disruption in my gut caused by a greasy piece of fried chicken!

Look guys, we (notice I said "we") broke an established rule discussing religion and it was inevitable that it was gonna go bad. A good thread got crapped on and now it needs to be fixed. My suggestion, even though it's gonna take a little effort, is for everyone that's posted ANYTHING unrelated to the spirit of the thread, to get busy deleting their posts. Personally, I'd like to apologize for my nimwitted contributions to the thread.

And yeah Rich, I was probably born 20 or 25 years late.

I do enjoy discussing religion-ish stuff in a non-emotional way, it's just tough to find anyone who is a "believer" to do that with.

True.. it is a guitar forum and not the religious forum. Its not the place for politics either. If a person wants to campaign for their political candidate cant they just put a sticker on their car or a sign in their yard? I am Caucasian but I don't really care to hear how the blacks are to blame for the record housing foreclosures.

For you who haven't heard, John McCain hates Jackson Guitars! its true!
