Yeah, that sucks. Happened to my house about 15 years ago. All the person took was the wifes jewelry box and a pillow case. The insurance was good for $1500, no special riders needed. But it was mostly the idea of it. It was right before Christmas and all the packages were wrapped and covered with a blanket in our bedroom, nothing taken. I think my family interrupted the act by arriving home. There were fresh footprints in the falling snow out the old sliding glass door in the BR. On the up side my wife swore off buying jewelry for like 10 years. Glad to hear no one was hurt.

Wow, that really sucks man. I'm paranoid about something like that happening here. We always set the alarm, though and it goes off as soon as any window is opened or if the door is opened or kicked in. My dog goes nuts if anyone's in the yard too, he's like a front line alarm. All I know is, if I woke to find someone in my house, the bat under the bed comes out and some fuckers skull is gonna get bashed in.

Glad to hear the kids aren't freaked out though. How's the wife though? She okay?

Man, you crack me up frequently !!! Love your sense of humor !!!

Bengal, real sorry to hear about the "violation". I was burglarized about 10 years ago. The guy stole my Wife's jewelry and a few cameras. Really a crappy feeling knowing an uninvited person was in your house.

Please let us know if you find out who the unfortunate soul is, and post a pic if you can.

Glad your family (and guitars) are ok !!!

That is a lot of effort for some cash and a box of Pop Tarts. Maybe he was in while you were up watching the movies and heard you?

I set the alarm w/motion sensors on every night.
Mr. Beretta sleeps by my side, some SOB breaks in my house and Mr. Beretta will shit a 9mm hollow point turd into his forehead.

Don't get me wrong, I am terrified on taking another human's life. As a matter of fact I have reconciled to the fact that it will be a life altering event.
BUT, and a big BUT, if that means protecting the lives of my daughters and wife and my life getting fucked over I will do it without hesitation.

What that fucker did was an invasion of YOUR sacred place, your home. A home that you worked for and sacrificed over all the while he was a junkie loser that considered his needs to be more important than respecting other's hard work.

Definitely sucks man. Good to hear no one was hurt and not much was lost.
Happened to me about a month ago. I was letting my buddy crash at my place while he was on 2 weeks R and R from Afghanistan. I never open my sliding door, apparently he unlocked it the night before when he was smoking, then went to bed. I left for work at 730, everything still in the apartment. Get a call at work around ten that the TV is gone. Some douchebag came in through the door, undid all the connections, and walked off with a 32 inch flatscreen in broad daylight, yet nobody saw anything.
Luckilly, none of my gear got taken, as it stays in the room my buddy was sleeping in. Don't know if the burglar even realized someone was there. It still urks me to no end some lowlife piece of shit was in my home, scoping out my shit. I'll have a nice surprise for him if he ever decides to return.

Since there are no children in the house, I keep my Remmington 1100 12 guage loaded with two high power No.6 shot and one "00" buck shot. If the first two shots don't cut the fucker painfully in half, by george the third one will seal the deal!

She's still a bit freaked out but she's doing alright. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for all the well wishes too guys. I appreciate it.

It was funny, first thing I thought was I need to go out and buy a handgun. I'm not really a gun guy but this incident made me think of getting one before I thought of anything else. Then I thought about getting a dog.

Don't get me wrong, if someone breaks into someones home and that person shoots and kills that person, I have no problem with that at all. That's the breaks. Guy got what he deserved. But not being a gun guy, I have no confidence that I could wield one with any kind of accuracy or confidence. So it might be more of a problem than a cure. For me, anyway.

Maybe a dog and a new security system is more up my alley.

People are robbing each other for pop tarts now... I blame the Gas prices..prettty soon this is going to be like Mad Max!

I'm growing my Mohwak back!!! SG can be my partner with his Remmington 1000. We will dress in leather and ride aimlessly through hot desert sands in search of gas, food and sex!!!

Bengal..yeesh. That's fuggin' unnerving!! Even if they didn't take anything at all. That shit makes you feel so fuggin' violiated. That feeling will fade and things will be back to norm. You did everything right by contacting the police and SIU. Tell your neighbor to secure that ladder. Take all the precautionaries you can. Secure that window during that time..you may have to put the air on. I'm all sealed up at my place. I don't leave anything open. In fact all my old steel windows are painted shut. They'd have to break in...I'd hear that. I'm up all night.. My house doesn NOT look "inviting". Can you imagine breaking into Satan's house?!

Dogs are great..doesn't have to be a killer. My dog weighs 4 lbs. But he barks at the slightest noise. That's all ya need.

Do you still have that gargoyle? I'd be scared if I climbed up the ladder and saw him staring at me.

Fucking hell, old Wilksy-baby prays for someone to break in and bum him.

Anyhow, glad to hear that none of you and yours were injured or too badly stressed, Bengal. Make sure you report it to the police, even for a packet of pop-tarts, if and when they nail the bastard they can add it to his charge sheet, maybe he'll be pillow-munching for a few months more in jail for it.

I used to have a Remington 1100 a few years ago, lovely shotgun (aaah, happy days).....
But anyway, get your old 20-bore out give it a bloody good clean and oil and have a look up the spout. It won't blow up on you so long as the barrel isn't blocked by a mouse nest. Shotguns are simplicity itself. Pin>primer>cartridge>powder>shot>bang>down the spout>ouch. Simple.
So long as your carts are good, there shouldn't be a problem. Get some rocksalt if you don't fancy executing anyone in your home. The noise and pain of a good saltingshould have the desired effect.

Mind you, have you considered it might have been a put-up job by the Mrs? She seems to have succeeded in getting you to kip on the floor in another room. Sneak back into your bedroom tonight and see if she's tucking into some pop-tarts. You haven't been doing some evil farts lately have you, so she just had to get some respite from your Stench Trench? :ROTF:
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                              I nearly broke her back

                                Rsmacker,
Dude, you're killing me. Killing me. Your way with words is truly second to none. I am in awe.

Maybe she did pull it all off! Blew a little too much at the mall and wanted those Pop Tarts all to herself. She has been complaining about me snorring lately. Hum... Seems to ad up.

About the shotgun. Sounds like it would work. I'm not sure what the model is but it's the first pump action shotgun? Does that sound right? I wanna say its from the Teens, 1910-1919. I have no clue, it's sitting on a shelf in my wifes closet, very high up. My kids don't even know we have it.

I googled it. Here it is. Mine is a very early model.

Pretty cool gun. My grandfather wanted me to have it in case I wanted to hunt pheasant here in Iowa.
