That is great news. I was worried that he would cop a plea and get a lesser punishment. I asked if the jury would be deciding the sentence because if so you would obviously know a lot sooner what he would be getting. Still sending out positive thoughts that the judge puts a definitive end to this for you.

Well the quote from the main state's attorney for the county: McLean County State’s Attorney Bill Yoder said after the verdict that the crimes could carry a minimum sentence of “more than a lifetime.”

So although we have to wait till August, I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about him again.

His wife made a comment to the press that she's going to contact the Innocence Project. And his attorney is saying he expects to file for an appeal.

I could see how if there was only one witness and some sketchy evidence that the Innocence Project / an appeal might have a chance, but four victims independently identified him as the criminal. That would be one hell of a conspiracy.

            It's almost over!

Im glad to hear the good news but it seems the scum is going to drag this on in appeals court. To bad someone doesnt "accidentally" mess up his paperwork and "mistakenly" put him in the general population. Let justice be served. 4 victims positively identified him nuff said!!!

After the closing arguments we (Kristi, myself, one of the other victims and her family) sat with the prosecutor and detectives in the case. We had a few questions. One of the details given was that he was probably going to be sentenced to a special prison for politicians and police officers after a short stay at Stateville Prison.

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.

Seems like he gets off easy if there is a special prison for police and politicians.

This is great news. I am very happy to hear that the prosecution prevailed and this defendant was held responsible for his crimes.

You must be thinking of some sort of low-security prision. This is specialized in the sense that the criminals that the police officers actually put away don't seek revenge or to gain points among the other criminals for taking out a politician or a police officer.

Prison will be plenty difficult on him. Even with the minimum sentence on each count, this SHPOS will no longer know what it's like to be a free man.
