my band has a 6 week tour in the works. it is our own, so i guess we aren't "envy" worthy!! but, hey, if we get enough dates ironed out, i'll let you all know where we'll be if you wanna come see us!!!

yeah, some people are just WAY to focused on musical opinions. one of the awesome things about music is there is SUCH a variety that there is something for EVERYONE!!!

just because one band makes music by numbers or another band sounds like a nintendo game doesn't mean either one is "better" than the other.

i mean, come on, some of us are NO different than arm chair QB's. you can tell the world what SHOULD have been done (or in the case of music what is WORTHY of praise and what is UTTER shit) but you aren't out there doing it for real, so your opinion doesn't mean SHIT.

somebody signed dragonforce. they sell enough records to have endorsement deals, tours and NOT get dropped from their label, so they MUST be doing something right...

but to me, that is just simple logic...who knows!!!

I totally agree. They are doing something right.

Music snobs bug the shit out of me. They always like these obscure bands that don't sell over 1,000 albums but then they want to beat you over the head with them and tell you how stupid you are because you don't know about them. Who'd know about them if they only sell 1,000 albums? I don't have that much time to surf the internet looking for obscure bands.

Hey, I could have went off on Robs anti-Slipknot comment but I didn't. Yes I know the dudes and they are cool but I know Slipknot is not for everybody. That's cool. Listen to what you enjoy, just don't try to use it as a weapon.

It comes down to whether there are objective yardsticks for music, and of course which ones you pick. Personally I value skill and creativity over economic success and popularity. A yardstick is only a weapon if you don't measure up.

music snobs make me laugh. i have a friend that is a "fine" artist. he paints and regularly has shows which feature his "works". he depises thomas kinkade.

my girl friend LOVES thomas kinkade...she appreicates his use of light, vivid colors, ,and his compositions. she bought one of his paintings. it hangs in her living room and she LOVES it. it was VERY expensive and she just LOVES that painting...

so she and i go to my buddies gallery showing a couple of months back. he was the featured artist. it was a nice black tie affair, art snobs mingling amonst each other, shiffing wine and commenting on my friend's "social commentary" behind all of his paitings with giant dicks and red, spread open pussies and stuff....well my girlfriend just about fell over in disgust!!!! she went and had a 30 minute debate with my friend and one of his lackeys about the difference between art and vulgarity. it got UGLY....especially when my friend insulted thomas kinkade and called him a hack!!!!

she and i left shortly after that....to this day when i mention his name, she calls him the "porn pedaller claiming to be an artist".

neither of them is right or wrong.

giant dicks and thomas kinkade can be considered art. it just depends on your perspective, tolerance and personality.

what's with the PC crap here? no need to defend different tastes... this thread was sarcastic from the beginning... DF doesn't affect gas price or our love lives... they suck IMO but I don't care... they can do what ever they want... I think DF wasn't really important in this conversation... it was a little word wich helped people to jump in to this conversation... a different kind of conversation.... more heat, more sarcasm etc. it's better than "sweet guitar" "+1" crap IMO... and it improves everyones argumentation skills... I think it was pretty funny
