I think those of you who may like powermetal but not dragonforce should definately check out valley fo the damned.
Sonic firestrom isn as good but not bad inhuman was definately repetative crap though sonic has definate repetative an similar sounding songs..
And thier guitar tone has alwasy been average at best...
When I saw them live they all played well the keys player was especially on form, shame their sound guy sucked and turned everything up loud isntead of making it sound good..
I'll take sonata anyday though I didnt like their new album as much as ecliptica, silience, winterhearts, reckoning, and for the sake of revenge live...
I think a lot of the DF hate comes from the last album, which is understandable...
I personally cant stand bands like messughah or dillenger for long it's not that I cant stand growl vocals I just like vocals I can hear and understand...
I've listened to alot of happy hardcore and can't see how dragonforce sounds like happy hardcore with guitars, and I wouldnt make the blanket statement of dragonforces lyrics are happy all the time, the music might be quite upbeat but the majority of dragonforce lyrics arent so much...Comment

Musical snobbery is simply another middle class pretention of upper class status. Can't have the mansion, can't have the Rolls, but CAN separate one's self from the rest of the bubbling common masses by having "superior" taste- In cars, in clothes, in movies, in music.
Middle-class strives to define itself as upper-middle class. Upper middle to upper.
One cannot separate one's self from the masses by enjoying 40 Year Old Virgin, or loving Bon Jovi. Must enjoy true CINEMA and watch FILMS. It is a great FILM. I don't watch "movies"! And Bon Jovi? How trite!
Dragon Force...I enjoy them! I don't own any albums, but I get a kick out of the playing. The lyrics? Nothing to get excited about. It *IS* happy-time-go-fast video game music. That's the point. It's what they're trying to do, and they're succeeding.
Upper class pretensions does not make one upper class. It simply makes one an utter bore. Tastes class does not make.
True class? "It's not my cup of tea" and move on.
