The apparent "rifts' between generations on this board is becoming apparent. The age of the dinosaurs is coming to an end, so to speak. I, for one, am glad there are bands that are pushing the boundaries of music and art as we currently know it.
Read the fucking thread. I was talking about Happy Hardcore all the way along, until I just ended up using "rave" as a generic term for the kind of stuff I was comparing DF to since most people don't know what "happy hardcore" means but DO know what "rave" is.
Like I say, read the fucking thread.

That's your problem. A computer IS an instrument. A Keyboard IS an instrument. The range of instruments / tones / sounds they use to craft their musical landscape is mindblowing.

You'd be surprised how many electronic artists are awesome multi-instrumentalists.

You're proving my point. They couldn't play the stuff themselves and couldn't or wouldn't get anyone else to play it so they had a computer do it.

All I can say is, THANK GOD for open minds like Endrik on this board!

Btw, Endrik, that's awesome! Some close friends of mine have been hard at work to succesfully launch their own Elektro label. The parties have been mindblowingly awesome, they attracted some real talent!

Playing a keyboard is OK. (Though it sounds worse unless it's not attempting to sound like another instrument)

Programming a computer to play the keyboard for you is a bunch of shit.

                    you are kidding right?

Marcus Miller couldn't get Poogie Bell (ridiculously good drummer) play 3 beats in a bar? :ROTF::ROTF:

So close-minded versus electronic music. And that from someone from Detroit!

uh yeah, DJ's have taken over the clubs. I am not a DJ. I am a guitarist. They "took my land" as it were. Hence, I don't like them.

happy hardcore is a very small part of rave... most rave events have music wich is actually pretty depressing or trippy or very "cold" sounding

Dragonforce is a joke, nothing less. Gimmicky, one-dimensional and emotionless.

Anyone else notice the irony in someone preaching about how knowing how to play something on an instrument is the vastly superior choice, and that person defending DRAGONFORCE?
