OK I'll bite!
I was in upstate NY, and was at a popular campsite (Allen Falls) with two of my buds late at night. We were supposed to meet a couple chicks, but they stood us up. This site was popular because it was high up on a cliff overlooking a river and waterfall. However, this was the dead of winter, and the river was frozen over. There was a long, steep trail to the campsite that we traversed, complete with a cooler and miscellaneous "supplies". We got a raging fire going a few feet from the edge of the cliff. Many many beers were drunk and many joints were smoked while we passed the time. I had my back to the cliff, and stood up to go take a piss. My buddy yelled "hey man, be careful!" Too late...I stumbled backward, and went careening off the edge. As I went hurtling down, I thought "my, I don't recall the trail to the campsite being this steep!" I fell and fell and slid and bounced and fell some more and went tumbling...after what seemed like an eternity of bouncing and free falling I cartwheeled violently out across the frozen river, and crashed through the ice! Had there not been all the snow and ice to break my fall, it would have probably been fatal...it was a very tall cliff. I also had a thick winter jacket on. Needless to say, I sobered up pretty quickly submersed in the icy black rapids. I swam and gasped and grappled my way out, and worked my way back up the cliff. I was drenched in frigid water, but amazingly unhurt. My buddies were stunned at first, but when they saw I was OK, we all had a great laugh!! I never heard the end of it!Last edited by Axewielder; 06-29-2008, 12:10 AM._________________________________________________
