fuck you, you self-righteous ninny, just because someone famous dies I have to say how great they were? I'll say what I think, thank you very much, and not what you tell me I have to say or think.

it's an internet board where people post their opinions, so grow up and get over it if you hear something you don't approve of. it's not like he was your goddamn grandfather, for you to appoint yourself as the comment police.

          R.I.P.

I always felt conflicted, listening... laughing my ass off, AND wondering if I was going to hell for doing so

          Perfect

          I promise, he's "still laughing"

you're entitled to your opinion, but what was the point of your first post in a thread paying tribute to someone? Who really gives a shit if he made you laugh or not - that's not what this thread is about. Why don't you start up a "George Carlin wasn't funny to me" thread and have your gripe there instead?

How old are you, skorb? Seriously. I'd like to know, and I'm sure others would, too.

Did I say you had to spout on how great you thought Carlin was? No. You're entitled to your opinions, no matter how jackass they may be. But coming in on a respectful thread about someone's passing, and ragging on them is a truly immature, classless move. Like showing up to his wake, and announcing to his relatives that you thought he sucked. It's like the old saying: "If you don't have something nice to say..." That's a sign of maturity.

Oh, and BTW... Thanks for your self-critical post. It's OK for you to post a jackass comment, but not OK for someone else to post calling you out on it? Who's the "comment police" now? Truly ironic and entertaining for you to slag yourself like that.

I think some people need to chill and remember that this isn't church, nor a funeral - it's an internet forum where people post opinions.

that being said, I truly was not out to offend anyone (I did not insult the guy or call him names) and I will endeavour to reserve my comments in future such threads.

God bless him ... oh, wait, he wouldn't like that! I loved him ... loved his witty observations but mostly loved his poke at religion. It was great an atheist could rise to the top like that. He actually came to my town last year and I missed it ... didn't have the money. Oh well. I only wished he had a better TV/movie career. Seems he didn't have too much luck at that. We'll have to get our nonbeliever humor from Penn and Teller now. Yep, Carlin will be missed.

I remember the skit he had about the death of great people like Bob Hope and ROnald Reagan, complete with TV specials called "Thanks... for the memories." I hope he gets out of that puke-inducing state, but he really deserved to be better known than he was. He wasn't just a comedian, he was a philosopher.
