Well, I have to agree with you to a large extent. Leppard's "Yeah" album was a steaming pile of gay crap. But their covers of "Elected" and "Action" are pretty rocking.

Whoever said Maiden are uncoverable was spot on. I've never heard a good cover of theirs either - the Opeth one is alright but it's impossible to beat Maiden at their own game.

The Metallica version is terrible ,the singing was horrible and the guitar solo was beyond hideous.Metallica are so far past their prime it's not even funny

Imagine how Metallica might have done that song in the mid Eighties....

That said, other than "Jaymz" singing like a cock, as he has done for many years now, it sounds okay. The little lick Kirk does about the 1:50 odd mark is very recognizably Kirk, despite it only being a few short notes.
The guitar tone is beyond horrible. Fucking atrocious.
Kirk's solo is utterly forgettable. I like his little fills in the song, but the main solos are shite.

Okay, this song wasn't half bad. I've listened to it a few times already... for some reason, it really reminds me of Dreamland_Rebel's band, Widow.

Really? It was the only one that I couldn't listen to the end, I hated it so much! I liked the Dream Theater and Black Tide ones the best, I think.

I didn't buy the magazine of course, but all of them are on youtube. Kerrang...*shudders*...Metal Hammer for me, thanks!
