That's the only line of importance in that story. Leave a mark (pun-fun, aside), MY ASS.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

    • She's lucky to be alive. She made the right decision by going inside to get the gun, but to go back outside to look for the guy was nothing short of foolish. A call to 911 should have been her next move once she obtained the gun. If the intruder happened to try to come in the house, that's when she should have proceeded with target practice.

        +1000.

She should have stayed inside and called the police. By going back outside, she's just putting herself in harms way.

Glad it came out well for her, it could have went the other way very easy.

I agree on a few points:
          1) If she got inside, grab the gun and call/wait for police locked in safely
          2) Don't try to scare someone with a gun. Use it or don't take it out/point it.

I am hoping that the story was oversimplified for drama - happens all the time in the news. Just a guess that the actual details of the situation led her to believe the guy was coming for her.

It reads like a bad horror movie! When you scream..."DON'T GO OUT THERE LADY, YOU'RE ABOUT TO GET IT!!!!!"

I agree with Bengal that it sounded like whe was wrestling with the guy and that he could have taken the gun from her and it would been a horrible ending.

            • I am just hoping we legalize people season. I think its my right and yours to go around shooting whoever you want. Can you imagine how much fun that shit would be?

You walk into a car dealership and the dude tries to hose you on the interest and the accessories... BANG....you cap his punk ass. Bet you get a better deal with the next salesman.

Little punk kids knockin over trash cans....load their asses full of rock salt. Happy days!! :P

              Just kidding of course.

You can argue semantics and "what-ifs" all day and both sides make equally good points. I love guns personally. They are fun to shoot for sport. They are just as effective in self defense. Unfortunately, they are also equally effective in moral wrong doings.

Someone on this board said it better than anyone else in a previous thread: Guns in public hands are like opening Pandora's Box, once that box has been open, it can never be closed again.

At this point in time, it is too late to try and change what the past has done. A millenia could go by and there will still be guns/firearms of some sort. We are at the point where all we can do is damage control and try to improve the situation. Eliminating the situation will never happen.-Lou

              • I gaurantee that the crime rate will plumet in DC when people are armed. I also gaurantee that the gun grabbers like Bader Ginsberg and Souter WILL NOT admit that they were wrong. I gaurantee that the gun grabbers WILL NOT admit that gun control laws only hurt law abiding citizens. Lets watch and see if the crime rate drops in DC.

                • While all you guys are mindlessly arguing if it's good or bad...

Hope for a good incorporation case before it has any real effect in the states, especially like those of us in California. Looks like the SF ban in Gov't Housing might be that vehicle. Of course since the 9th Circuit is pretty much against the individual right interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, that may have to go up through the channels to SCOTUS.

Keep your fingers cross and hope The Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 will be one of the first laws to be overturned.

EDIT: Oh, in case you own a guitar and aren't in an officially registered band, you shouldn't be allowed to own any amp greater than 10 watts or more than 3 guitars. Having something louder would be a public nuisance unless your band is registered and only if you have a permit to use amplification that could cause permanent hearing damage. :p

Hell, in these days of political correctness, just about anything could be considered political. I think the most important thing is that it remains a civil discussion and doesn't become a firestorm of insults and personal attacks.

All we ask is for the right to shoot back at our attackers. Why is that wrong????

I've told you why I think it's wrong. (Please read again the - I THINK - part of that sentence)

If you do that, you better hit what you are shooting at. If you miss and hit an innocent bystander and kill them, you are a murderer. No better than the criminal you are trying to kill. Actually you are worse if that crime didn't involve murder.

                          Make sense? Does to me.

                            • I just read this entire thread. Wow this one was long and heated at times.

I am surprised no one touched on the point that the 2 amendment is a right and something such as a drivers license is a privilege. I grew up in So Cal. and spent 28 years of my life there. This is a very restricted state for gun ownership and especially hadguns are very restricted. The crime is very high and God forbid you stop a criminal at his job buy trying to defend your self or your property of others and there property. I have seen this happen time and again. The prison system is a revolving door there literaly and until we do a better job in society removing criminals and showing them there are concequences to there actions onther than shortened sentances, probation, and weekends. I have since moved out of So Cal to No Va. As the laws here in Va are more for the people than the criminals.

Here is an intersting story worth a read. Storys like this one happen everyday and go unreported in the media.
