the uk law has changed recently as you were not allowed to harm burglars etc at all. its a bit odd hear, if you attack some one with something that’s found in the home then your ok. but you cant keep a baseball bat just for home defence. (we don’t play base ball hear much) but if you hit them with say a gold club you used for playing golf that would be ok.

Not many ppl have guns in the uk and that’s quite a historical thing so ive never seen a gun (apart from air rifles). We have a bit of a problem (that is being hyped by media types) about ppl getting stabbed. Its only in rough parts of the uk and the reaction is not to arm every one with knives. I think its because we have not got a civil defence culture hear.

I would like to see nobody having guns any wear and we can all live in peace and harmony but I think its all a bit more complicated.

Uh dude, that IS the only law of the world (which is why I said we all have the right to do whatever we want).

It has never been any different - we just do it on a larger scale now because people have realised that 400 million people and a lot of money and resources have more "might" than a single person.

Taking that stance, then, logic would dictate that a rapist has the right to rape, because he believes he has a right to do it.

And a drug dealer has the right to deal drugs because he believes so.

And a man has the right to murder his wife to avoid paying her alimony or otherwise avoid a messy divorce if he believes he has the right to.

And a thief has the right to steal because he believes he has that right.

You are correct. A theif has the "right" to steal. A murder has the "right" to kill ect. In this free society we live, anyone has the "right" to do whatever they want.

Just so happens the State has a "right" to prosecute you for it.

Anything can be justified by anyone. Period. In this issue or any other. So why bother?

You guys have a right to own guns. Knock yourself out. I'm cool with that. People also have the right not to own them. And both can justify their stance.

Well "socalist" is a very, very broad term that means lots of things. It's thrown around more than "fascist" nodays to mean someone you disagree with. I think I get where you are coming from. I have a different opinion so I'm "socalist"? That's what I'm reading. I think it's more that than I prefer for the people to control wealth or property.

As for being left. No doubt about it. I'm much farther left than the Dems care to go nowdays. More Libertarian than anything I guess. Not really down with the current "parties" out there.

What am I supposed to take away from that video?

Am I wrong in believing that transporting guns can be a bit of a problem? I see on "COPS" all the time police getting somewhat hostle when people have guns in the car. All these people who had their guns taken were transporting weapons. Some of them loaded. Am I wrong in believing that is illegal?

As for confiscation, I have no feelings on either side. But like I said, I always thought that transporting loaded weapons as being illegal.

The way they treated that old lady was horrible. But she was holding a gun in the presense of a cop. I guess I don't know what I would have expected them to do in that situation. But I don't like seeing that at all.

Many states have different gun laws ,here in ga I can carry a loaded weapon in my vehicle in plain site (legal).With a permit I can carry a loaded weapon concealed (legal).
The point of that video is only the law abbiding people were unlawfully relieved of thier weapons.I'm sure that most if not all of you have heard about the looting and other acts of crime that had happened in the aftermath of katrina ,surely this was a horrific situation ,but by what right? were these weapons removed from people who had them for hunting ,target practice or just general security.Then in a time of confusion and massive uncertainty - law abiding citizens were penalized ,thereby creating an atmosphere ripe for crime and violence.

I see what you are saying. I'm sure the people portrayed in the video were normal citizens that were doing no harm.

The one guy in the boat had the loaded weapons concealed. That might be against the law. But you can argue that those people were not common criminals and should have been dealt with accordingly. I would agree with that. Just as I would agree that someone who gets poped with a small ammount of weed shouldn't go to jail. In some states they don't, here in Iowa they do.

But like I've said many, many times before. Guns are way too ingrained in our society to ever think we can do anything about them. The time for restrictions was long ago. Any attempt to do anything like that will just lead to another Civil War.
