    • People that own that many guns, and store them that way, are not a threat. First, though everything they own is in full working condition and they have the ammo for each one, they will have to decide which one to use on you, which will take them quite some time.

Second, a pipebomb tossed into that room as the guy opens the door to pick one to use on you will most likely set off some of the ammo, particularly those that are in the open, which in turn will set off others, and then you have a snowball effect.

The guy would eventually shoot himself 32,000 times.

      • just tell me, what is the point of owning a hand-gun other than shooting people (or a 44 Magnum for the Ultimate Grizzly hunt)

you law-abiding citizens should just get yourselfs shotguns, and when some asshole comes to steal shit from you or kill you, stick a big hole in him

the day I own a gun is a sad day indeed

It probably will be a sad day when you or a family member are a victim of violent crime so then you realize the point in owning a handgun.

When I left home as a wee naive lad much like yourself, I was exposed to the true scum of this earth. I realized the importance of being able to protect my family as well as myself. There is no worse feeling in the world watching a friend or loved one be assualted by thugs and you cant do anything because you are unarmed.

I know what you mean, but i just couldn't bring my self to shoot someone, I would have no problem beating them to death, but no guns! as odd as that is LOL

in my lifetime, nothing has been stolen from me, or any family members within the grandparent-Uncle/aunt-cousin circle (aside from one of my cousins cars getting stolen and just left at the side of some road), and no one has been assaulted or anything like that, and nothing stolen from my parents or siblings

If a group of thugs were attacking your mother would you still not shoot them and let your mom die? No way you can fight more than one person especially if one or two may be armed with a knife.

As much as I think I can kick ass I cant fight more than one person especially if others may have weapons also.

Random acts of violence are rare but it is our right to be able to defend ourselves that the Constitution "guarentees" us. You are fortunate nothing bad has happened to your family and I pray nothing does but you never know when something can happen.

Look, guns are not evil. They are a tool, nothing more, nothing less. I've owned guns since the age of six. My dad taught me how to shoot a single shot bolt action .22 and a single shot 16 gauge shotgun. He taught me how to be safe and responsible. Now, 44 years later, I'm yet to pop a cap in anyone's ass. Come to think of it, the thought has never seriously crossed my mind. But I can say this without hesitation, if an intruder enters my home, I will splatter that son of a bitch from point A to point Z and everywhere inbetween.

Of course, I could always slip up on the intruder and boink him in the head with a computer monitor, a blender, a skillet, or heaven forbid, a guitar. I guess if I hit him hard enough with one of those tools, I could cave in his skull and kill him just as dead as if I had pulled the trigger on my 12 guage.

I think I had a point, but the dawg is acting as if she needs to pinch a loaf. Be right back.

Lets dive into this idea a bit shall we?

Guns are not evil is your statement. Here's how one might say that they are.

Guns only intent is to kill things. Handguns are only made to kill humans. Right? I'm not wrong there, am I?

The Bible says in the 10 Commandments that "Thou Shall Not Kill". It doesn't say "Thou Shall Not Murder" or "Thou Shall Kill When Provoked Or In The Defense Of A Fellow Man" or anything like that. "Thou Shall Not Kill" is all it says.

So what is something that's only use is to break one of God's commandments? Evil? Hum...

Is abortion evil? It breaks one of God's commandments if you believe in that sort of thing. I know quite a few people who would say abortion is evil. I also know a few people that would say it's a tool. Who's right?

                    Makes me think.

A time for pepper, a time for salt

                            • I didn't know guns had the ability to show intent. If you put any gun on a table, it does not have the ability to hop up and run around the room, knock you up side the head, then eject a wad of lead into your noggin. Now, on the other hand, if Evil Bollweavel decides to reach over, pick up that gun and spray the room with lead, he's used a tool in order to spread his destruction. Old Evil could possibly have done the same thing with a handful of rocks, a baseball bat, or a half empty bottle of Natty Ice.

P.S. Don't be so hard on my nutz. I may need them this weekend!

                              • Mark,
So you have to be able to show intent to be evil?

So Meth isn't evil? Heroin isn't evil? Air Supply isn't evil?

I have no idea. All I know is my son has started using the term evil to describe anything he doesn't like. That bugs me a bit since I have a problem with his definition of evil. He says his little brother is evil if he doesn't let him watch Naruto on Saturday night.

I heard that arguement once that guns were evil from a friend of mine who has faith. It's an interesting debate but I fall on your side on that one. A gun isn't evil, the person behind it is.

I talked to your old lady, you won't be needing those nuts this weekend.
