  • Maybe we need a siege in the inner cites like they did in Baghdad to take way illegal weapons, drugs, gangs, etc.?

Bring home the troops and station them in the cities. Patrol the hoods and back up the local police. Allow kids a chance to go to schools with out fear of getting shot. Play in the park without dealers.

No more drive by shootings with a 50 caliber loaded Hummer at the end of the block.

Of course all this would cost money so where do you cut to get the funds? Foreign aid? No more billions to Israel? Billions cut to countries that would just assume to see you dead? The billions that are use for foreign students to attend US collages?

Is it time for the US to rebuild itself so that someday it will regain the respect it once had? If the outside countries can see where we are failing, we may want to take a time out from trying to carry the world on our shoulders. The EU has seem to be on the right track, so I’m sure they would not have an issue if we got a pass for a while to collect ourselves. After all, The US has been there for them in their hour of need.

God help those who help themselves ….

    • I would like to raise a question though.

Of all the pro-gun posts in this thread, how many of you have been a victim of violent crime involving guns?

Simple question. I'm sure you'll see a bunch of responses about how the gun detered the crime, I don't buy that for a nano-second. I addressed that point a few posts ago.

So come on guys. Who here has been robbed at gunpoint?

A bit of a different situation. All work related. If you work at a convience store, you might run into that at some time. Hazzard of the job.

I'm more interested in any incidents at the persons home or out in public when they are not working.

            • That's an entirely valid question, Bengal.

              To answer: not me.

However, that does not negate the possibility.

Did you wait until your car ran out of gas before refilling it? Did you wait until your first blackout before buying a flashlight or candles? Should I wait until I'm the victim of a gun-related crime before taking the opportunity to defend my life with one against one? I may not get a second chance, so I may as well be sure the "first offence" is met with the "last resort".

And thought it was a few pages back, G.o.R., America does not have "social inequality". "Whitey" isn't holding anyone down. Everyone in this country has the same social opportunities. I have as much opportunity as Bill Gates had to build my own software giant and be a bajillionaire, and kids in the ghetto have as much opportunity as I had to go to the same public schools I did and get an education and a job, and to pay their own way through life. If they don't choose it, that is also their right, but they forfeit the right to complain about it.

The choice was there for them to make. No one but themselves or "their people" talked them out of it.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

but that is a big part of the problem, if people who work in places that are often robed cannot protect themselves how many will be killed/ injured?

                    • Newc,
I see what you are saying but I'm not lining up for Chemotherapy just in case I get cancer down the road. See what I'm saying? There is just as many examples that will show my side just like your side.

It's like saying that Diet Coke keeps me from drowning. I drink it every day and have not drowned. Well, I guess thats more to the deterant side of things.

And everyone does NOT have the same oportunities here in the states. That is just plain wrong. People are held back by color, sexual preference, social class, ect. It's not easy for us white americans to understand that but it's true. Most minorities have to start a few steps back from us white americans.

                        • Mexico has ridiculously restrictive restrictions on gun ownership. I don't believe there are any non-gov't manufacturers there either.
And we wonder why their government is so corrupt.
                          Think about that one.
You sir, can go you fuck yourself and don't let the door hit you in the vagina on the way out.

Right here... and I hope to never have to go through it again.
I wasn't carrying at the time. I complied and tossed the wallet (which was empty) one direction and ran the other.
By the time the moron figured out there was nothing in it, I was long gone.

Compliance in a robbery will save your ass 99 times out of 100.

But that is not the real issue here. The issue is self defense. The guy wanted to rob me, not kill me.
I could care less about my wallet... it can be replaced.

If this had been an intruder in my house, he would have been shot. Plain and simple. My wife and daughter are what matter most to me and I will protect them with what ever force needed. Up to and including the use of deadly force if necessary.

I don't know. How many clerks at convience stores have been killed in your town in the last 2 weeks? Any?

I can't remember when the last time it happened here in Des Moines was. A town of 250,000.

That shit just doesn't happen as often as some would like us to believe.

Would that be the same reaction when some guy gets the idea to sneak into your daughters room in the middle of the night? I know I've done that many times when I was a kid. Would you know the difference? Really?
