  • Got my recording interface, and I'm right pissed!

I had a major lag/latency issue whenever I tried to record using Acid Pro. I would load a drum track into Acid Pro, and record while playing along to it. My recorded guitar track always ended up being behind the drum track. So I figured the best thing I can do is to get myself a decent recording interface to eliminate the latency. Well, after hooking it up, and getting it working properly, there is absolutely no difference.

What a fucking waste of money.

Even with a good interface there'll always be a little latency.
Usually the software should correct that right after recording, maybe it isn't setup right?

I have no experience with Acid Pro, so I can't help much there.

Check your Buffer settings. Lower number should be better/faster/lower latency.

Audition has an Auto-Correct setting for that, and if I turn it off, it's really noticeable.

Yeah, my buffer is set almost all the way to the left (lower number).

I can move the audio tracks manually to correct it, but it's a pain in the ass to do, and I was lead to believe that I shouldn't need to.

          Does Acid not have auto-correction?

My cousin uses an older version, and he has no problems with latency at all. Maybe I need to get myself an older version and try that.

I bought a tapco link usb which came with traktion to record onto absolutely no lag from the bat, simple to sue and setup as long as you read the manual...

I think your problem sounds like it's the program not the hardware if it's allready set to no lag....

Check your ASIO settings and make sure it's set correctly.

You have anything under "settings" that shows anything in Miliseconds (MS).... I have to set mine to 10 ms fruity loops.

Yeah default asio latency settings are usually a little bigger then you can easily get just incase of errors and shit. Currently my maudio fw410 is set to 64 samples, 3.5ms latency. I can sometimes notice it believe it or not, but its way better then 7ms was. Which when recording drums, then guitars over the drums set things way off!

Any decent interface should get low enough though!

I manually move all of my tracks, but I have primitive hardware and software. For being such a techie about most things, I'm really dumb when it comes to recording.

It's one of those things that I keep saying "I should learn more about this some day..." but some day never comes.

Should be in the Acid Pro settings.
