    hehehehehehehehehe. I LOVE Ralph Wiggum.

Here are some of my favorite quotes.

"My cat's breath smells like cat food"
    "Hi Super Nintendo Chalmers!"
"Slow down Bart, my legs don't know how to be long like yours"
    "I bent my wookie"
"I ate the blue ones...They taste like burning"

And someone had this one as a sig line. Zeegs maybe?

Sidenote: Most car stereos suck, even the "nice" ones.

Trust me people with a decent ear can tell the HUGE difference between an mp3 and the real deal. Its kind of like the difference between a 4x12 tube amp and a 1x6 solid state amp from radio shack.

Avrils song girlfriend has been LEGALLY downloaded 7.3 million times. This will generate her $584,000 if she has the standard royalty rates which is .8 cents a download. Downloads fall under the new tech clauses in most artists contracts. Thats less than a cent a song. Now if you and 7 million others steal her song then you just cost her over a half a million dollars. If someone were costing you that amount of money youd be pissed and you know it!! I'd be after all of you thieves if I was an artist or a label. That money adds up. This is why the artists have to charge outrageous prices for concerts. They have to earn a living somehow.
Well for one I wouldn't steal from Avril Lavigne, she's not worth it.

But you have some obvious problems with your logic:

1 - You have no idea how many people stole the song, you only know how many didn't steal it.

2 - Even if you did have a number for (1), you have not shown that even a single one of those people would have paid for the song were stealing it more difficult.

I'm going to make a test for you guys if anyone is willing to donate some webspace for a couple days. I think I know a way to make the file sizes all the same so you can't tell that way.

Though it will be left up to the honor system as far as assuming no one cheats and looks at the actual waveforms or phones a friend, etc.

          • I would be up for that.

I've never said my ears were expert but I think it would be fun to try.

As for the honor system, I guess I'm Jesus so you can trust me.

No, it's not stealing. When I'm at work it's somewhat of an "on call" thing. I work when it's requried. When it's not I watch TV and surf the internet.

Much like 100% of the people in my business. See, in the news business it's cosidered a good thing to surf the net. Never know when you might find a good story. Makes sense, right?

By that standpoint, I'm stealing when I go to the bathroom. HA! Laughable.

You really should know what I do before calling me out. You have no clue what I do for a living. Those assumptions are a bitch, arn't they? Makes you look stupid.

As for my attitude, I would say the same exact thing about you. From what I've read, all you do is shit in every thread you post in. Rarely do you agree with the OP. You just bark to hear your own voice. I figured you out right away. Not too hard.

Why do these fucking idiots always want to call me out over some bullshit? Like I said before, have a problem with me? Fuck right off, I could care less. Want to call me out? Make another thread buddy, we'll go at it til the cows come home.
I'm glad for you that you have a job like that. so do I.

as for your shallow characterization of my involvement on this forum, it is what it is. I say what I think with no apologies. I also made couple posts in this thread specifically pointing out some positives on the other side of the filesharing debate. maybe you missed those.

if you weren't so constantly self-righteous and so ready to jump down other people's throats and go on long-winded pointless arguments with those who don't agree with you, people wouldn't think you were so much of a dick around here. I know I took a lot of shit for saying I didn't find George Carlin funny a couple weeks ago, but that was just an opinion on an internet board. it's not church or a funeral, but I did apologize.

only you know why you have to play loud internet tough-guy with me and everyone else here who "calls you out," as you so maturely refer to people taking issue with your constant lording your shit over everyone.

people who have to be "right" all the time have a personality disorder. maybe you should look in the mirror. but you'll just tell yourself (and me probably) that I'm full of shit and in your mind you'll be "right," because no one can tell you otherwise.

btw, I just bought two new cd's today (new Filter and new Coldplay). I could have dl'd them, but I did not. the only stuff I dl now, is older stuff that I already bought on tape years ago, but never got converted over to mp3. so they got my money the first time round, as they should.

this will be the last post I ever direct at you for any reason. it's clear you thrive on attention, but you'll have to get it from others.

Your arguement is LAME. You assume they woudnt buy it. I believe they would buy it if it was harder to steal it.

Also I dont need your LAME test. I can easily put in a CD and give it a listen. I can also take the IPOD and play it thru the same system. I can tell the difference thats why I prefer the cds.

Bottom line is this. You thieves will eventually lose as will the rest of us. We will lose personal freedoms that we now have because the RIAA will do whatever they have to to stop this stealing. They have the money and the political influence to create more stricter laws. They will accomplish this in time. Its called big brother. They will be watching, its only a matter of time.

Well then, allow me to retort.

I hit a nerve with you. Either here or another thread. Maybe it's because we are somewhat similiar? I think that might be some of it.

I have shoved nothing down anyones throat in this thread. That's just wrong. If it sounded like I did, so be it. Maybe the reader had the issue and not the writer.

Attention hog or whore or whatever? Nope, just bored. I don't make myself out to be anything I'm not. Unlike some.

Self rightous? Nope. Not at all. Secure in what I believe, yep. Maybe you confuse the two.

My shallow chracterization? Maybe, but it came after yours. So call it retalliation.

People don't have to be right with me, common misconception. I'm not right or wrong, I do what feels right to me.

As for you being full of shit, I don't know if you are or not. Personal attacks against me in a tread about filesharing does lead me to believe you are.

I said maybe we were alike. There is one way we are different. If I have a problem with what someone has said and want to challenge them on it, I challenge them on it. I don't go off calling names and making sweeping generalizations about someones character. I hold people to how they present themselves on this forum. I challenge what they say. I have no clue if someone is honest, trustworthy, beats his wife, steals cars, killed his mother, whatever. I don't make those generalizations. I'm not really comfortable with that.

Now I can get angry and go after poeple. But I usually apologise if I've crossed the line.

Which I have at times, but not with you. Well, you must think I have but don't want to tell me why. Instead, you attack my character, something you know nothing about.

Then you end with the classic "this will be my last post to you" bullshit. Get over yourself. I'll expect you to hold yourself to that even after reading my post.

We'll see if you can do that.

You might be a cool guy in person, but on this forum you are just a big-talking wannabe as far as anyone can tell. All you do is throw out meaningless assertions with no facts behind them whatsoever no matter the subject. I'm still waiting to hear your god-like tone from your imaginary Mark III.

It's impossible to accurately determine whether the decline in sales has anything to do with filesharing. You expect people to willingly self-report criminal behavior? Beyond that you expect them to be able to accurately determine what actions they would take were stealing more difficult? Or, even better, you think some coalition of researchers can reliably attribute the decline in sales to any one simple activity? If the last one were the case, the record companies would be fighting tooth and nail with everyone rather than targetting a few people and settling out of court just to get themselves in the news.

Yeah it's so lame to use the tools of reason. It's much cooler to simply assert things like "I believe they would buy it if it was[sic] harder to steal it." or "I dont[sic] need your LAME test... I can tell the difference..." or your entire third paragraph.

Your reasoning is so persuasive, I think I need to rethink my life.

                          • Hard to say if someone would buy something they could steal.

I'm on the fence on this one, I can see both sides.

I do believe that filesharing will fuck it up for all of us, I think I already said that. But sooner or later it will be impossible to import a CD into your computer or there will be some file attached to the mp3 that won't allow it to be transfered into an iPod. Some kinda shit like that will happen.

Then we ALL will be pissed.

I guess I do. I think I say something that hits peoples nerves or insecurities or whatever and they go after me for it. Whatever.

I'm going to start that other thread so people can do that shit there. All it does is muck up these threads with personal attacks. Lame.
