  • Worst song covers ever

Ok, I was curious to hear what people thought were the worst covers of other peoples songs ever. Two come to mind for me right off the bat

Jewels version of Sweet Home Alabama. I remember hearing it and thinking "What a half assed attempt" I know she can play guitar better then that. it was just sad.

Wycked Wytch (some NU goth metal industrial Manson wanna be band) version of Sweet dreams (Are made of these) horrible vocals uninspired music.. just run of the mill crap.

Atreyu(however you spell it) did a cover of Epic. Scream-o meets rap meets the garbage bin..

I like Jewel and I like Atreyu, but those covers just kind of suck really badly.

Honorable mention goes to Sheryl Crow's crappy version of Sweet Child -o- Mine

My all time personal favorite cover (and Slayer fans are going to hate me for this) but Tori Amos did a cover of Reign In Blood which is real moody and creepy.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

I was actually going to say the Metallica version of Whiskey in the Jar which I'd also have to slam Thin Lizzy for (I'm a Dubliners fan, I like the old folk version, better lyrics too) not that theirs isn't a cover as well but.. yeah..

Some newer rock band did a cover of "In The Air Tonight" (Phil Collins). They trashed it. It lost all the atmosphere of the original, and the big tom breakdown (which was the coolest part of the song) was looped in front of the chorus every time.

              Weak.

However, I still cannot decide which is the greater travesty: Pat Boone covering Holy Diver, or Dio singing backups on it.

Personally I liked Metallica's version of Turn The Page. It has more oomph. It's more dynamic. Listening to the original, there are no dynamics. It doesn't convince me of the story.

Didn't care for MegaDeth's version of Paranoid, but then I'm a Sabbath Puritan

-The band that did Skynards Simple Man, way overdone vocals and only acoustic.
-Metallica's version of Die Die my Darling, absofuckinglutely butchered the end and just bad overall
-Blacktides version of Hit the Lights, stale and slow. They make Hammetts leads sound godlike in comparison
-White Lions Radar love doesn't do it for me
                  -The Cult's Born to Wild...meh
-some more i forgot at the moment

Flotsam and Jetsam's cover of Saturday Night's Alright was pretty lame. When a thrash band covers Elton John, the result should be more rocking than the original. In that case, old Reggie sounded tougher, meaner, better. Of course the talent divide is vast on that one.

W.A.S.P. covered that one, too. I'm a W.A.S.P. fan, but Blackie's timing was really off on that, it was "all wrong".

personally i liked that cover, thought it was well done and heavy as fuck. Worst cover for me, i`m eighteen by megadeth.

Some great covers are done on the Metal Tribute to Abba (flame away lol), some great catchy tunes given the metal treatment
