I believe Glen did that on his solo album. I think I heard it once and wasn't all that crazy about it.

WASP also did a cover of PIB and it was pretty decent.

Not a cover but I can't stand that new Kid Rock summer song that samples Sweet Home Alabama and Werewolves of London. Actually I just can't stand Kid Rock.

Absolute worst cover ever recorded in my opinion is Shinedowns feeble attempt at Simple Man! PERIOD! Everytime I hear that crap I want to have my ears surgically removed! And the singer should have had his vocal chords removed as punishment.

        Honorable mention goes to..
GnR - Live and let Die.
Nonpoint - In the Air tonite
Some sicko band out there did a cover of priests Living after midnight, it wasn't pretty..

        Favorite covers are....
Dream Theatres cover of Deep Purples Perfect Strangers
Great Whites cover of Immigrant Song
Killswitch Engage's cover of Holy Diver Rocks too..

Yup. Glenn Tipton's "Baptism Of Fire" CD.
Yup. His version of Paint It Black sucked.

I thought he had Keef on lead vocals for that

AFAIK, MegaDeth never did I'm Eighteen, just No More Mr. Nice Guy.

And as long as we're mentioning good covers - check out a band called The Rods (early 80s). They did a version of "Keep Me Hangin On" (Supremes) that truly rocked.

And I thought Mamas Boys did Mama Weer All Crazy Now better than Quiet Riot.

            More!
            Not good:
            KroKus - Ballroom Blitz
That reminds me of another one: Tia Carrere's screeching version of Ballroom Blitz in the first Wayne's World movie.

That's an interesting one. People love it or hate it. It still gets requested on the radio here constantly, but I absolutely can't stand it. I know Alvin here likes it, but I honestly think the version he & his bro-in-law did sounds better. Shinedown's singer has a good voice and sounds fine on their originals I've heard, but to me it sounds like he's straining to drop a deuce on that song.

Yeah. Musically, they did a good job. But the singer just so completely oversings it, all he does is weaken the impact of the song.

Someone told me (not sure if it's true) that he's dating Ronnie Van Zants daughter Melody and that they recorded that song in order to get in her mothers good graces. I guess it worked because personally, if I were Ronnies Widow, I'd have shot him.

Metallica's Garage Days Re-Re-Re-visited or whatever it was called includes the worst and best covers ever really.
The OLD covers, from the $5.98 EP are all fucking tremendous, whereas the new ones they did like "Turn The Page" and "Whisky In The Jar" are just as shit as everything else they've done since about 1990.

Best covers would be AC/DC doing "School Days", Megadeth's "No More Mr Nice Guy" and Death doing "Painkiller".

The worst cover ever is by some shitty band that covered the Death song "Crystal Mountain". I can't even think of the name of the band, it was so fucking terrible.

Kent's version of Depeche Mode's Stripped. Awesome cover.

I'd say they're right at the worst I might have said Aztec Camera's version of "Jump", but I can't tell if that's meant to be a joke or not. The G'nR songs just plain suck

I couldn't agree more. Especially the Rammstein version. Bletch!!!
At least the Kent version was somewhat closer to stomaching; still sucked!
