  • Hello all! ramble ramble ramble...

    Hi guys!
I think it's proper etiquette to at least say hello before posting but I neglected to do that and have already posted a few so I'd just like to say a short hello to all at the JCF.

I have been reading this forum for a while and it is incredibly entertaining and informative. I signed up for it in hopes of trawling for some information on any of the Jacksons I have knowned, loved, or dreamed about but find myself reading the "new posts" many times daily and enjoying the posts in most every category. Some days you could even say I get my news from the JCF!

Anyway, hello again to all. My name is Mike and I am a Jackson lover from way back. I have been playing since the tender young age of 13 (1988) when I got my first guitar, an Aria Pro II XR series. It was a black, strat shaped guitar with a pointy headstock, sharkfin inlays, and a Kahler trem and that was before I had even heard of Jacksons so I must have known something about what I wanted from an axe even then.

Over the years, I have gone through more guitars than I can even remember and have proven to be far more proficient at buying them than playing them. But I must say I loved them all. At this point I think there is only one guitar out there I would still love to own, a vintage USA BC Rich Bich.

Currently, I have in my fold two Carvin DC127s, a Fender MIJ Strat from the 80s, an LP Studio Lite, an Ibanez S540QM, and my two Jacksons which are a DK1 and what I can only describe as some sort of oddball PC2 with a rosewood fretboard. Allegedly at one point it was owned by Pat Bergeson but I have found no way to confirm this. A couple other random logs including the Platinum Series BC Rich Bich I got when I was 15.

My Jackson pedigree of guitars past includes a handful of Soloists, I was once the owner of J3569, which I think is displayed in the gallery and owned by Donnie Cretsinger. I thought I might have been the guy that sold it to him, but I saw another guy took credit for that in a post so maybe I was the guy who sold it to the guy who sold it to him. I was also the guy who "commissioned" what appears to be the least desirable Custom Shop Jackson on eBay, a 1 pickup SLS with Floyd Rose in gloss black with abalone bowties. I think you can find it on eBay right now, whoever has it now has been trying to unload it for months and I took a beating selling it myself. (had to pay the mortgage)!

My guitar "heroes" are pretty run of the mill, Randy Rhoads, Chris Holmes, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Dave Mustaine, Alex Skolnick, Alvin Lee. I took lessons for a year until my teacher decided I was wasting his time and mine because I never practiced and just wanted to play Metallica songs. Some of these stories end up turning out well... mine so far has ended in an auto parts warehouse with lazy fingers. I still play the Metallica songs... well, at least the slow or easy ones.

My hobbies over the years included guitar, porno, and smoking dope. A year ago, I met my girlfriend and her then-infant son and now, due to time, financial, and moral constraints, my hobbies have been pared down to eating Fiber One bars and entertaining the two of them with my flatulence. Oh yeah, and occasional guitar playing. I have an old Cutlass I back out of the garage every so often to see how many more parts are going to need to be replaced since the last time I looked.

Anyway, I have enjoyed reading you guys go on about pretty much everything for months now and I hope to continue to do so. I probably won't post much, because as you can see I don't have much to say and when I do it's quite boring.

But thank you all for keeping me busy at work all this time, keep up the good work!!
    Mike

I think you'll fit in here fine! Given your hobbies, old and new, make sure you pop into Casa Del Fuggems. They love talking about farting & porno (and occasionally guitar) in there

And don't be shy about wading into conversation. I stopped adding value to this place years ago, but that doesn't shut me up.
      Hail yesterday

Thank you very much for the kind welcome. It's true, between the aging Cutlass and my fixation with fiber it's tough to tell who's got the worst emissions at this point...

Thanks again all. It will be nice to get to interact with some like minded individuals. I will try to add some pics of the fleet when next I can, but probably not til next week. You're right Spivonius, I should have thought to put pics with it but I was too busy listening to myself type. GOR, I've seen your work and you're welcome to it. I've listened to pretty much the same crap since I was 14 so if you can shame me out of it now more power to ya. ;-)

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
