Yes it's a discussion board. But not everything has to do with gun ownership/banishment. It wasn't anywhere near this discussion until you chimed in with it.

I agree, I have no answer why or how respect for the other or ones self has gotten so far out of control. Beyond primal animialistic in behavior, definitely out of touch that's for sure.

Joe, how about the 3 people (the bus driver, a trucker & a passenger) who risked their lives climbing back on board to help the victim? Admittedly, there was nothing they could do, but they were prepared to put their own safety on the line for a stranger. I think there may be hope for humanity yet.

Just like an idiot I try, every once in a while to do the right thing, what I feel and what I believe it to be. In an overwhelming proportion, I do not receive a hint of gratitude or just an acknowledgement.

Heck, I've gone out on a limb for MANY people and they turn around with absolutely no shame and tell me "Well.. I did not ask you do do anyhting" or "You took it upon yourself and I don't happen to like it or appreciate it". Or how about the kick-in-the-nuts " classic "I was due that anyway so why should I give you any credit".

I am not doing things for the acclaim, because I feel is the right thing to do.

I have lost a lot of compassion for mankind and I hate that happened to me. Why do we have a dark need to destroy and take what doesn't belong to us. What the fuck ever happened to making a decent & honest living and what the fuck ever happened to RESPECT. To us internally and for others.

When I read this story I got depressed, not angry, not vengeful, not hateful. Just flat out depressed. I am just about convinced that there is no hope for us.

Plus, unless you have some nice hollowpoints and are one hell of a shooter, chances are you could hurt someone else on the bus. Then it will be two or more dead. Great!!

I am a gun owner, actually guns owner, and I fail to see the benefit of the victim or any other goober on that bus packing heat. The damage was already done.

Even so, if I was on the bus and the man starting stabbing and cutting the innocent victim (before death), I would pull my gun out and yell at him to stop giving him a chance to stop, or I'd shoot to kill, bottomline. I'd never see a jail sentence either. But that's me, I don't mind removing lousy scum if need be.

Situational awareness is what they teach you in concealed weapons courses. You would only take the shot when it was clear. Hollow points are a non penetrating round. They are expanding when they hit flesh an excellent bullet for this situation just wanted to point that out to others who dont know.

Hey but thats Canada and they took away the peoples right to defend themselves. If they had laxed gun laws maybe the killer would have thought twice. An armed society is a polite society.

I enjoy guns as well, but folks that can afford to buy a nice gun, train to use it, and pay to renew their license and get training probably aren't taking a Bus cross country - they have a Prius or something of their own.
