When I was younger this girl we knew had a boyfriend named Russ. One night while at the "blue lights", a spot to park and do whatever by the airport, he saw a man assaulting a woman in the parking lot. Being the cool dude he was, he got out of the car and tried to help the lady. The dude pulled out a .38 and shot him in the head and killed him instantly. That was over 20 years ago.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to stick you nose into other peoples business. That's why we have cops.

There's an element of risk in every aspect of life, but I'd rather die sooner than live knowing I walked away and let a woman be raped. You have different priorities and that's your business.

The cops are rarely on the scene in time to prevent the crime, they usually go after the criminal after the crime has been committed. cold comfort to the victim, though of course it's better that the crook is caught than not.

Ask Bil Z., a cop for 13 years. The cops usually only find out after the fact of the crime. There just aren't enough of them in any given city to be on top of crime as it happens.

I wasn't talking about you... I was talking generally about people who post that kind of stuff on the net... and not only that... people who say that on the public... or even some folks that I know personally... how the heck I know that when the time comes they "accidently" aren't going to shoot me? I can't really trust no one (except for a cop, soldier etc.) in that kind of situation because these things don't happen every day.

See, I wouldn't. But I have 2 kids that need a father. Call me a dick or whatever but I wouldn't stick my neck out for anybody that I don't know and make my sons grow up without a father.

I can't believe I forgot this encounter. I guess I have more Rambo in me than I though.

My house is about a block down from a battered womens shelter. One day I'm out in the yard doing yard work and I hear a dude yelling and screaming at someone. I notice it's coming from a car in the parking lot of that shelter. The girl was screaming bloody murder and so was the dude. Then I hear the girl yell something like "Don't hit me again" or something like that. So I take off in a run down there. When I get there I yell something at him about myself calling the cops and he better get the hell out of here. She's out of the car walking towards the shelter. The dude flips me off and tears off out of there. I stand there for a moment and when the girl gets to the door she turns back and yells at me "Mind your own fuckin' business asshole!".

Yikes.

Ive got kids too... and you know what? That dude that got killed was sombodys son. Someones boyfriend. Someones best friend. His parents probably looked at him as an infant with the same unconditional love that you (hopefully) look at your kids with. He was somebodys baby and now hes dead.

Sure, its easy to say "Id help" but talk is cheap. I wouldnt have been able to live with myself knowing that there was something that I could have possibly done. What if that was your son or daughter getting cut up? Would you have wanted someone to help them? I know DAMN WELL that I would if it were mine.

Having kids has changed me... it has made me more cautious, makes me think about alot more... about making sure that Im around to see them grow up. BUT, it also made me realize that almost everyone on this earth, at one point in their life, was someones baby... they were looked at with the same tears of joy and loved the same way I look at my kids when they were born and every day after that. I would do everything in my power to make sure that didnt happen to someone elses innocent baby... young or old.

Oh and whats up with all the "gay" refrences? Isnt that supposed to be frowned apon here? Isnt that a banable offense? Whats up admins, gonna enforce the rules or are certain people exempt? I dont see any reason "gay" had to be brought into this thread.
