I think it sucks. Sorry. Takes more than a depressing vocal track and some strange piano passages to make something good in my book.

I know I'm being a downer but I've heard you guys say how much it ruled for a long time now (TOE!) so I had to give it a shot.

    Nope. I think it's lame.

    But I'm lame so whatever.

Hey you better watch that shit! You're talking about my future imaginary wife there bubba!!

    hehehe

but seriously, i know Tori isn't for everyone, but for me she can do no wrong musically. mostly anyway.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

      Joe,
I'll have to check out some of her other stuff. I've never listened to her at all.
      I'm angry because you're stupid

Sorry about that man. I mean no offense. She is hot and all.

She's Awesome live, very energetic, and i love how she stradles and rides that piano bench
I think she actually gets off when she's doing it

Listen to some of her other tunes if you don't get that. She kicks much ass regardless of hotness!

She grew up in a very religious household, and was also raped at one point. Her lyrics can be pretty dark and deep.
Little Earthquakes is hands down my favorite song by her. I remember when "Silent all these years" came out, i had it on mute, I thought it was some sort of girl band, i never heard the music just kind of watched the cute red head. I went to a used CD store, I think to buy an Alice in Chains cd (trying to remember the year) and they played half the album, when it got to Little Earthquakes I was sold, then I find out it was the red head I had been ignoring (lol)

She has some very blunt lyrics "Just because you can make me cum doesn't make you Jesus" "Innocents you know you're alone here, so if you jump you best jump far" etc.

man now i'm going to have to take Cannibal Corpse cd out of my player and put on Tori.

This Forum has done more to get me back into old stuff I listen to lately, Journey, Tori, etc.

She may be an aquired taste, I would check out stuff from the first two albums, her current one I didn't care for at all (Sorry Toe)

I saw her on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine back in the early '90s, heard some of her tunes on the radio, thought they were catchy, just took a liking to her. She's got a great voice and plays a killer piano.

I completely understand what you mean by making it his own. When you sang those words you could tell that although he hadn't wrote it, he had lived it. I can't even listen to the NIN version anymore.

I may catch hell for saying this, but I think part of the power of his version of Hurt is he sounded so weathered and sort of fading even as he was singing that. It had the feeling of a man looking back on his life as it was coming to a close.

You know, I forgot one song by her I can't stand and you posted it.

I can not listen to Winter.

I listened to that song when my father died and that song killed me every time I heard it. It still make me feel heavy in the chest...

(it's a great song but it just brings up bad memories)

I actually don't have her newer stuff. I've got her first four CDs, Little Earthquakes, Under The Pink, Boys For Pele, and From The Choirgirl Hotel, plus the Crucify EP and the covers CD Strange Little Girls, as well as the live DVD. I do need to eventually pick up her newer stuff.

The Crucify EP has covers of Angie, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Thank You.

Her album Strange Little Girls is a full cover album with 12 tunes (it's also available with four different album covers).

There's just something about her that's amazing. She also had an old band in the '80s called Y Kant Tori Read, with Matt Sorum on drums.

"Flying Dutchman" Is my favorite song of hers. I get chills down my spine whenever I listen to it. I mean literally - a shiver goes down my spine from that song. A few others of hers have that effect on me, too, like "Yes Anastasia".

Doesn't this belong in the 'show how emo you are' thread?

Her stuff doesn't do anything for me.

I haven't heard this song in a very long time. I think it is alright; not one of her best covers, but good none the less. Better than Slayer's version IMH... but I really hate Slayer.

This sounds like the last Celtic Frost album but not as good.
