  • Any Jeep owners here???

I know Sis Emmy has...or had one...

    Just bought this...

I was wondering if anyone has chipped theirs and if it is worth the dough...

Any good cold air intake suggestions?

    Here's one like mine...
2000 Wrangler Sahara. Mine has the black soft top (which i prefer over the beige) and beige hardtop. The only thing i changed was the tires. I upgraded to Toyo 31 inch Open Country.
My most prized possesion. Love the new Unlimiteds Sev....VERY nice

Look Up...Get Up...And Never EVER Give Up...

I've always wanted a Wrangler, so when I was shopping for a new car a month or so ago, I was very tempted by a couple of very tidy examples. But common sense prevailed - as cool and as much fun as they might be, not practical for my needs

          Jeep= Under powered (stock)..
Shitty stock 4 wheel drive transfer cases on almost all models after Benz re-designed them.

I love that 4 door Jeep. It looks so cool.

The 3.8 has more power than the last 4.0 did...Still 205 hp is good enough to get the job done...As far as the 4 wheel drive and transfer case...My Rubicon model has Dana 44s with front and rear locking diffs...Also has a cool automatic sway bar release that gives you another 22" of travel...The others don't have this...

I would still love to get an easy 20-30 horses out of it though...Thats probably because my last jeep (CJ7) I put in a rebuilt 360...That was crazy!

I'm jealous!!! I've been wanting a Rubicon Unlimited.
Anyway, I'll be going to pick-up my restored '68 CJ5 in a couple weeks.

Nice! Was thinking of getting one of those recently, but needed more hauling capacity (wife+3 kids+all their junk), so I bought a Toyota Tundra instead (yes - the gas mileage is FANTASTIC! Or not...). That being said, I have a '95 Wrangler Rio Grande (last of the square headlamps) that I'm keeping until I die - I live in San Diego, so tops down is do-able 350 days a year

And FWIW, I would stay away from that chip swap - I assume you have a lifetime warranty on that drive train, and, believe me, Chrysler WILL void it if they see you swapped chips...
Crime doesn't pay. Neither does lutherie...

Cool! We looked at one of those, but I wasn't too comfortable in the seats (6', long legs) so we passed. They are very neat cars. I wouldn't mind a Wrangler 2 door sometime, though we know people who have either had their Jeeps forever without issues, or they have been money pits.

What exactly is Chrysler's idea of Lifetime warranty btw? I'm guessing what they judge to be the life of the power train, probably 10-15 years.

Unfortunately...Up here in Canada we only get 5 years on warranty...

                      I was told they can't void it here...But don't think I'll take a chance...

Sorry to revive an old thread but... I did a search prior to posting.

So Sevser, do you still own it and how are you liking it?

I looked at one of those Wrangler 4 doors today and I really liked it. Even the wife tought it was cool. But I still have to drive one yet to see if I like it or not and I want to wait because I know that if I like it... I will want to get it.

So any comments or other things about those Jeep Wrangler 4 doors would be very appreciated.

I had a Grand Cherokee this winter. I bought it cause I'd driven a lot of them at work and they were nice, comfortable, four wheel drive and very spacey. Worst piece of shit i have ever driven. Jeeps in general, and even the ones to this day, are prone to serious rusting. This one started to rust on top of it's rust. Seriously though, problems with everything. It was fine when i bought it, 1 month later without warning, it started to die piece by piece. Not so much mechanical even though the transfer case started leaking after 6 weeks. I was driving one morning, minding my business, when a ton of smoke came out from under the dash. There was an electrical fire cause by it. Funny how none of the fuses burst. Some of the lines under there weren't fused. Getting the dash off was a bit because the plastic is so shitty it just turns to dust in your hands. Will never buy a jeep again. Not because I've had a shitty experience' but because a lot of people have had shitty experiences. I'd say, unless you're a mechanic or a guy who only plans on having his car for 5 or 6 years, don't bother with a jeep.

Edit: Don't hate the playa hate the game lol
