Just an "update" they found the bodies of 2 "blacks" in a Georgian tank and claim it was possibly "Americans"

      from russiatoday.com:

The president of South Ossetia claims mercenaries took part in Georgia’s offensive against the breakaway republic, according to Russia’s RIA news agency. Eduard Kokoity says Ukrainians, people from the Baltics as well as nationals from other countries were involved.

Kokoity says that: “After the fighting in the city we found several bodies of citizens of the Baltic states and Ukraine. Later on I was informed that the bodies of several black men were found at the scene of a battle near school number 12. Kokoity said.

He also said some corpses had the narrow eyes typical of people from Asia.

South Ossetian officials say more than 2,000 of their civilians were killed in the attack. Georgia disputes this figure.

The Russian envoy in South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoyev, says the scene in Tskhinvali is horrific.

“The town looks like Stalingrad during WW2, with fallen trees, power lines, burnt Georgian tanks all over the streets. The dead bodies of Georgian soldiers are lying everywhere,” Medoyev said.

He also confirmed the South Ossetian President’s claim that foreign mercenaries took part in the onslaught.

“In yesterday’s attack, the advancing tanks were supposedly crewed by Ukrainians. Two unidentified bodies found today are said to have black skin. Possibly they are Americans but we can’t say for sure yet. We will be able to publish the official conclusions after carrying out special tests,” Medoyev said.

        Georgia wants to cease fire.

        Got pwned

I heard that they want help from us(electricity and some supplies,or so I heard). We have good relations with them and Russia, both. It's gonna be complicated I guess.

Russia could blow this. I think the international community, while denouncing the violence, could hold Georgia at fault as aggressors. Issue is, Georgia has offered a cease fire, and Russia is STILL beating them down. If Russia takes Georgia, that would almost for sure spark a world war. In fact, Russia's response of "step on your toes and we'll beat you with a club" is almost justified, but imo, not attacking the capital (which you only do when you plan on taking a region or realigning a government) and their rumored bombing of civvies. That region is going down to hell in a hand basket.

Russia is pretty safe. Europe will offer nothing but words because it will do about anything to avoid war with Russia. The U.S. is in no position to protect Georgia or Europe for that matter. They are doing it during the Olympics to emphasize that they don't give a fuck what the world thinks.

It has been known that Russia starts its military campaigns in August since most international governments go into vacation till the fall in August.

There was a Russian military build up in July in the region. All this is not a coincidence.

If Russia were to attack (West-)Europe, THAT would be when shit starts flying. Like imagine tanks rolling into Poland.

Those SAM missile sites the US put up here in Europe are starting to make sense now.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

                    Abkhazia Is the Second Front
// Panic breaks out on border town of Zugdidi
A second front started against Georgia over the weekend. Abkhazia, “in accordance with alliance obligations to South Ossetia” began an operation “to press Georgian forces out of the upper part of the Kodori Gorge.” Abkhazian armed formations entered the zone of responsibility of peacekeeping forces of in the Gali region. In Tbilisi, they are claiming that the Russian army is taking part in the offensive, that the Russian Air Force is providing air support and that the Black Sea Fleet is providing naval support. Moscow and Sukhumi deny that. Abkhazia has declared its readiness to cross the border and “put in order” the Zugdidi district of Georgia. Panic broke out in Zugdidi in the evening.
Yesterday morning, Abkhazian forces struck at Georgian positions in the upper part of Kodori Gorge with missile artillery “Abkhazian forces were given the task of dislodging Georgian armed formations out of the area, where they have been located since 2006 in violation of the 1994 agreement on the disengagement of the sides and ceasefire,” Abkhazian Defense Minister Sergey Shamba told Kommersant. “At present, the artillery is undergoing preparation.” Earlier, Abkhazia demanded that Georgian authorities “withdraw all armed formations from the upper part of Kodori Gorge, including border forces and the so-called marionette government of the Abkhazian Autonomous Republic.” Abkhazian President Sergey Bagapsh stated yesterday that “Georgia still has time.” Bagapsh noted that “When the main phase of this operation begins, you will know.” On Monday, martial law will be imposed in several districts of Abkhazia for ten days and a partial mobilization is being declared.

Sukhumi has officially asked UN military observers to leave Kodori Gorge. Assistant to the secretary general of the UN Edmund Mulet stated that Abkhazian authorities refused to explain the reason for their request. He said that the UN was extremely concerned about the expansion of the conflict.

Abkhazian forces simultaneously entered the collective peacekeeping forces’ zone of responsibility in Gali District of the republic and took up positions on the border with Georgia along the Inguri River. “The goal of the operation is to bring order to the zone of responsibility of the peacekeeping forces both on the territory of Abkhazia and on the territory of Zugdidi District in Georgia,” Bagapsh stated. Slightly later, his official representative Kristian Bzhania explained that “At this stage of the operation, the Abkhazian army does not plan to cross into Georgian territory.”

By that time, however, speaker of the Georgian parliament David Bakradze had already announced, citing certain informational sources, an offensive by Russian-Abkhazian forces against Georgian Zugdidi. In that city, which has a population of 100,000, panic began.

Rumors circulated of a large presence of Russian infantry brought to the Abkhazian port of Ochamchire by the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Tornike Keburia, a member of the Zugdidi city administration, told Kommersant that “A significant part of the population has left to the nearest villages where they have relatives or homes.”

According to the city official, Zugdidi is under the control of the Georgian police. No additional armed Georgian forces have been introduced there, since Zugdidi is within the security zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, as defined in the 1994 Moscow agreement. Keburia acknowledged that Russian peacekeepers have given assurances that, if the necessity arises to defend the city, they will not allow Abkhazian armed formations to enter it. The public is placing greater hopes on the nearby large Georgian military base in Senaki.

Both Sukhumi and Moscow deny that Russian forces are taking part in the actions of the Abkhazian army. “We do not intend to take the initiative in escalating the conflict in that area [i.e., Abkhazia],” Anatoly Nogovitsyn, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces stated yesterday. “We are interested foremost in stabilization there.” The Abkhazian president’s representative stated yesterday that additional Russian peacekeepers were introduced into the unrecognized republic yesterday. “The Russian peacekeepers are making efforts not to allow a repetition of the tragedy in South Ossetia, where the peacekeeping forces were attacked by Georgian subdivisions” Bzhania said. “Under its mandate, up to 3000 peacekeepers can be located in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone, but there number has not exceeded 2500 until recently.”

The Russian fleet has not remained on the side in the conflict either. “The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the missile cruiser Moskva, arrived in the assigned area [the eastern part of the Black Sea] from Sevastopol on Sunday morning, along with the patroller Smetlivy and escort vessels,” a source in the Russian Navy stated yesterday. He said that three large infantry ships are also located in the area. They arrived earlier from Sevastopol and Novorossiisk. “The purpose of the location of the group of Black Sea Fleet vessels in that area is preparedness to provide assistance to refugees,” the source said. Chief of the Georgian National Security Council Alexander Lomaya claims, however, that the Russian ships are blockading the main Georgian port of Poti. “The Russians are not allowing Georgian ship loaded with grain and fuel into Georgia,” he stated.

Most experts say that, in the event that the conflict is expanded, it will be extremely difficult for the Georgian army to wage war on the two fronts of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Tbilisi is under no illusions of it either, although for different reasons. “If Russia has decided to occupy Georgia, not only on two fronts in the war, but on one front with Russia we will have little chance,” a high-placed Georgian Foreign Ministry official told Kommersant.

I didn't know that Vlad is a comedian... pretty funny when he reported to his little bitch Medvedev about the war situation "this what's happening is genocide"... you could see pretty clearly in his eyes how much full of shit he is...

If this gets worse... my homeland would be one of the first ones to go (the relationship is pretty heated)... along with other Baltic states, Ukraine and Poland... the countries which make Russia pissed off because they are intependent and who will never forgive what those Bolshevik motherfuckers have done. And off course they will claim to save us like they did before (saving actually means mass murder) and if we don't greet them with red carpets we are being accused for being fascist... but that's ok because we have being called fascist for many years now... now I saw them calling Georgia and USA a fascist countries too.
Poor little country that Russia is... no one wants to play with them.

I've noticed a lot of Russian posters on European news sites parroting that crap like it was gospel, so apparently the big lie is believable enough in mother Russia.

I've underestimated Putin for the last time. He intends to rebuild the Soviet Union...not as it was, but as his own personal playground. He'll do it too, if he lives long enough. Man, he's one scary bastard!

Russians are very patriotic.... unfortunately there's a lot of sheep mentality going on over there.... it always have been there like that... they like heavy handed leadership and a lot of vodka.

Since the Bolsheviks came all the Russian "intelligent elite" was killed.

You don't see anyone protesting against the war over there. A lot of them like to follow their leaders blindly.

The second reason is that they can't protest... protesting in Russia is impossible.

Some of the Russian journalists over the years who have expressed their opinion how wrong Putin's actions are... have been assassinated.

If there's someone who likes to think and expresses his/her opinion... he would get beaten pretty badly.

There wasn't even a slightest chance that Medvedev isn't going to be the next president... a few who thought that it's fucking bullshit got a fair amount of punches from angry dudes and beatings with handbags from old ladies in election places.

Russians who live outside Russia and support all the actions their motherland does... can freely express their opinions, protest how the locals can't understand what's "right", even go physical on them etc. but somehow they never go back to live in Russia because there they don't have that kind of freedom of speech and a healthy life.

If kinda feel sad for them because they really don't have conditions which are humane and don't even know what a normal life is. If they don't want to open their eyes then so be it. They can do whatever they want. But interfering to sovereign countries' business and freedom is a big no no.
They have the biggest amount of land and a lot of natural resources. Still the people are poor. "Expanding" itself isn't going to solve those problems... all those greedy Putin-like douchebags are going to get all the money anyway.

That's the thing you see. When you hit a tank and it burns up, the bodies inside tend to look like Isaac Hayes, no matter what colour they were when they got into it.

The Georgians brought this on themselves. When the Russians are flexing their muscles on your borders, the best thing to do is NOT go in to any separatist region with all guns blazing, especially if those muscle-flexing Ivans have pledged to defend the separatists (ie. Russians). They expected the Western powers, like NATO, to jump in and save them when the backlash started. Wrong!!!!!!
                            They'll maybe remember next time.

Spetnaz infiltrated SO and were dressed in civilian clothes but with military hardware. They started a "uprising" Georgian troops responded.

Its right out of the soviet playbook infiltrate the population with secret police and start uprising. Then you can spin it that the georgians attacked civilians.

One other there happen to be a huge military build up along the border in July of all the elitist units that happen to be conducting "exercises"

This has about as much chance of turning into WWIII as I do of becoming Barak Obama's running mate. The us will just sit back (Like Russia did when we went into Iraq) and speak against it but that's about it. The US has as much interest in enguaging Russian forces as it does in surrendering to Mexico.
