I TOLD you it'd be shite. Yeah there are elements of Justice and stuff, but it's still basically a Load/Reload song. Crap vocals, no urgency about it until half way in, padded out for no reason, very odd drumming, aimless overall although with some good riffage. Pretty much like everything they've done since TBA and if anyone had any hopes they'd recapture their glory again at some point, I think it's time to give up if St Anger didn't already make you see it.
Nice solo from Kirk although the solo and a lot of the lead lines sound suspiciously like stuff he's done before.
well, i havent really been a fan since justice, and have not heard a single album since the black album, but i wouldn't call it shit, i'll enjoy it when it comes on the radio.
I truly disliked that. I wasn't pleasantly surprised as I thought I might be. to be honest I'm not really shocked anyways.
"Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer
"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub
I too must admit that this was the best I've heard from them since BA. I am actually positively surprised. I first thought the song was crap, but it gets better after 4:00.
He didn't do a very good job on AJFA... you couldn't hear Jason's bass.
That was James and Lars' fault. Besides, it's still a classic album, a MILLION times better than anything they did after it. In fact, all their best work was done with Fleming, and they've really sucked ever since.
I also felt that it was kinda disjointed, but once things got going around 4 minutes, I liked it. I liked the solo as well... typical Hammett stuff of course, but the big thing is that there was no wah in it.
It seems like they are back to doing the "epic" type songs, which gives me hope that this will be a good record.

Regardless of the mix, I think AJFA was Metallica's best work, followed closely by MOP.
It's lame, weak, boring, pointless, and not very good at all. I hate it very much. I was so pumped about this album. I really wanted it to be good, but from the sounds of it so far, it's the opposite of good. Fuck you Metallica for getting my hopes up again you has-been douchebags.
