How many of you have a major record contract here? How many of you have made millions here off their record deals? How many of you hate Metallica's shitty new music and won't buy their next album... well that doesnt' matter because they will make millions off this Album also. They still have a record contract because they sell millions.. Another thing why would someone buy their shit if they didn't like it.

But..Butt..what if the new position requires a rubber fist up yer bung and you don't wanna.
    Pucker up and run..

So Metallica don't view the world the same way they did at 18. They grew up. Where's the problem?
So they're not angry any more - is that an excuse to write shit music? Iron Maiden, Motorhead, AC/DC, Judas Priest all made PLENTY cash from their music but I don't see them turning into fucking limp wristed homos (Rob may be a homo but his music is not limp wristed).

Anyway - from what I can gather Metallica ARE still angry. Have you seen "Some Kind of Monster"? Looks to me like, despite their money, none of them are very happy with life. So the "anger" thing doesn't really come into it at all, they simply can't write a good song any more - their money simply means they do not give a flying fuck about the fans who still buy this shit. Fuck 'em.

Guns-n-Roses are the perfect example: Appetite For Destruction was a brutal album that was made by poor, angry, and hungry kids. They got rich from it. Stinkingly so.
WHat happened? They were no longer poor and hungry, so they softened up.

well, I'm still an angry teenager..a bald one..with hair on my back..and in my nose...with back pain...and neck pain..and I can't ever poop right.. But I still can play metal..and better than I did when I was a real teenager.

..and metal was never my day job. It was a part time gig and hobby.

I dunno..why don't you ask Metallica. They're the ones writing those lyrics, those riffs, playing their old songs, and tryin' to come off as a metal band that found their roots ..and tryin' to poop.

Ahhhh Ok Rob. Yeah, I could see somebody doing that. I'd take AIB over anything Metallica has done since black. Our memeber Ben was asking me for bands that sounded like Metallica/Megadeth @ my thread. So I was going thru my collection. Being that I was in the A section it took me seconds to be reminded of AM I BLOOD. So I youtubed them..and well, there they were.

Like I said there is other bands that really sound like Metallica..Aversion sounds like HTL era..but that came out around '91. Also another band called Blackend..they have two on Massacre. While bands like Metallica, Queenryche, Dokken ect was alseep at the wheel during the 90's-early 00's. There was PLENTY of bands that gladly picked up where they left off!

No I wasn't joking about Trivium. My son loves them. I said in an earlier thread. I'll often hear my son playing a pretty killer riff and I'll go "what's that??".."That's Trivium dad"..ohhhh. These kids are young, and full of piss and vinegar. They could cover Metallica's complex songs with no prob..not the other way around.

It reminds me when Extreme came out and covered VH live back in '89/'90. VH couldn't handle an early Extreme song like "do ya wanna play"..even when they were on their game.

That goes to show I always had my finger on the Metal/Shred pulse since the 80's. That's different from being stuck in the 80's. I watched it evolve from Black Sabbath...and I have most of it in my library.

Bill, I found out about Am I Blood years ago before St. Wanker came out... The song Gone With You off of TTITDS was being passed off as leaked new Metallica at the time... I knew it was too good to be true, and finally someone identified the song. I kept up on them for a while, but I guess they gave up the ghost as their site hasnt been updated since Jan 06'. Shame, they had ALOT of potential too.
