That was some good reading Vince. I agree with you that if a person cant handle a .45 they need to eat more often. If they thought a .45 had too much recoil i would definitely stay away from any revolver above a .38 caliber. The hardest recoil of any Gun I have ever shot was the M110 Howitzer

Cool pieces posted here! That older H&K is nice and the Sig P226 is on my GAS list! I have a Beretta 92FS in Stainless which I bought new many years ago and it has the 15 round mags. I didn't know they had 10 rounders currently, I thought they went back to the 15's after the so called Assault Weapons bill sunset.
Anyway, There is a book called Handgun Stopping Power and it shows the .357 Mag to be about the ideal home self defense round. Interestingly I don't have one myself, another one for the GAS list. In fact there are so many I want its not funny. These range from the Browning Hi-Power to P226.Rudy

Just a question for you Scott,
Why all the full size Glocks?
I am asking because I own a 23 and a 19. I had a 17 but the 19 and 23 are more versatile for concealed carry.
Also I would really look into the HK USP in .45 either in compact or full size. I think having a double stack and hi cap magazines is very important for a service pistol.
I own a few 1911a1s and they are nice but obselete in todays world. My HK USP carries double the capacity and almost half the weight. I love my .45 USP
One last thing I would look into a Sig. I like the Blackwater edition they made of the P226 9mm but that one is pricey.
ETA I reread your post and I see you did opt for a double stack. That should be a good pistol then.Last edited by AK47; 08-29-2008, 04:54 AM.

It's amazing how often I have to tell people this. I bought a .45 for this exact reason. I'm not going hunting with it, lol. If I have to use it, whatever it is I have to use it on is probably not going to be very far from me."I would have banned you for taking part in hijacking and derailing a thread when you could have started your own thread about your own topic." - Unknown

I've been thinking about one of these, the local shop has one but I've never owned a handgun before, shot a million of them, but never owned one, however the other end of the spectrum is this......also would love one of these
I've been meaning to look into one of these, not sure how legal they are in my parts hahaha but I'd love to take one to the range here!
