Soon..so I'm told. They taped stuff a few years ago..but I'm glad they got the TGE material!

Did Jeff ever make a fucking GW cover yet? Yes, I know he had a column..but whe're the fuggin' cover. He's da man!! They put trend hacks and the same old fuggin' dinosaurs..seriously, what the fuck!

That's why I keep stopping my subscription to Guitar World. It's like a fuggin' Teen Beat rag featuring boy heartthrob Leif Garret..fuggums!

    fuggumsindazzzzah!

Ya'know Uli Roth never made the cover of Guitar World..Wes Borland did..Korn did..but not Uli Roth..or Frank Marino...or Criss Oliva!

    fuggumsindaazzzz!

I would that!!! Tim was the only second NM guitar player that gave Jeff a run for his money!

The other ones were good but not THAT good.

Chris Broderick was in complete fuggin' awe years before he played with them live. That was around '98..

Hey Bill, what do you think of that new tune on Jeff's MySpace? "Jato Unit" or whatever. I dig it! I think it's sweet. There's some neat Cacophony type parts and then there is some pure Jeff stuff. I hope the whole album is that good. Why does Europe get it a MONTH before North America? I mean, isn't Jeff FROM here. I know I'm gettin' it as soon as it comes out as will my guitar teacher. I showed him the Born solo and then he went and bought the whole Nevermore discography and a $2000 seven string. I'm definitely lookin' forward to Sept. 30th now.

Ben, The entire cd is fuggin' mindnumbing..I like the writing BETTER than ANY Becker/Friedman stuff. That was then..this is now..a continuum! I don't give a shit about sweeping, speed..the dude has infinite chops polished beyond belief, his writing is diverse and original as you can possibly get..he da fuggin' man!

He takes this seriously but has fun. He felt a little weird because he had a column but didn't know a lick of theory..so he couldn't really convey what he did...other than tab. Just like Becker and Marty..he's a natural. He played for less than two years and didn't get the part for Megadeth and Vicious Rumors (Vinnie Moore's spot) because he was too young. It's on his Myspace.."Jeff at 16" ..which was back in our time before youtube, myspace and shit.

As a metal player..It doesn't get any better than Jeff..IMO!

I'll put in my vote...This Godless Endeavor is a fantastic album the entire way through. From there, you can pretty much go anywhere. Just realize that Warrel's vocals get weirder as you go back. It took me a while to get used to them, but now I think they're really unique and full of cool ideas.

My first album was Dead Heart. The solo in River Dragon is jaw-dropping. Jeff is so technical yet always mindful of where the melody is.

as far as the recent disc with "awful production", Enemies of Reality - it's not black-metal-bad, if that's what you're worried about. Certainly not StAnker bad. Someone here said when it came out that it sounded like there was a blanket over your speaker. I still rocked out to it.

It could have been better, but as an album it still kicks ass. There are actually some really great songs on that disc and it would be a shame to miss out on them because of the reported issues with the production. If you can, find the Andy Sneap remastered version. Andy fixed the production issues, although the remastering also changed some of the arrangements too.

Anyone know if the CD's spine code (?) is different for the remaster? Otherwise, it might be tough finding the "right" version.

I saw one in a record store that had a "Remixed by Andy Sneap" Sticker prominently displayed on the front. I don't know if that is the case on all of them though.

                              Good info guys..G..Spiv!!

..I must Agree with Spiv.."The River Dragon off 2000's a Dead heart in a dead world" is a great introduction. That song rules..and the solo, one of many is incredible!

Its a little revealing and disappointing to see that this thread has about just as many hits as the Slipknot thread. THAT's why real players don't make covers of guitar mags. This is a GUITAR forum right? A Jackson Forum..hmmmmm. Here, it feels like I'm in company with the MTV generation.

I'll take talent over image anyday. We have our own Slipknot in Cleveland's Mushroomhead and know their guitarist. He's in it for the $$$. He don't give a fuck about their own music. Dave Felton is a very good "shredder" but that's not what that music calls for. But since metal is cool again, its safe to solo now. But he much rather play w/ a band like Nevermore.. because that's where his heart really is. My friend is one of his best friends. What's on the surface is never what it seems..so, why not wear a silly mask.

Thanks, Spiv. Now I know what to look for. I might try to track down a copy here in town over the weekend.

Speaking of great players not doing anything interesting, I can't believe how many two-guitar bands I see locally, where there is not a solo to be heard. Two guys playing the same riffs note for fuckin' note, and usually they aren't even good riffs. Many of them are very good guitarists, apparently just playing in garbage bands.
