With Gustav bearing down, we can't drop our guard with Hanna. I also just saw where two more tropical storms are brewing and show potential to develop to hurricane status.

What about Dallas? My brother's supposed to be going there next week for his truck driving job.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Emergency officials in Georgia are preparing for people trying to escape two hurricanes, even as the state is still recovering from local damage caused by a Hurricane Fay’s tornadoes and rains.

Dallas is about 178 miles due West of Shreveport. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Big D doesn't get some substantial rain.

Warm Gulf Waters Expected to Refuel Gustav
Gustav's passage over Cuba took a toll on its wind speed, but it was heading over warmer Gulf waters, which are expected to reinvigorate the storm, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida

I figured I'd throw in the occasional news .... but I'm pretty sure most of the US is informed (at least I hope so )

That is a sick looking motherfucker of a hurricane.

Brace for impact and best of luck. We will be praying for you all....
                      Hate this time of year.

This is looking worse and worse. Especially if the other 2 form and attack.

I'm actually thinking that New Orleans will dissappear =(

I was thinking about how bad these people have it, but then I remember every time you turned around in the 90s, some town in Florida was getting wiped off the map. Kind of strange how the tracks take on a pattern that sticks for a few years. Wonder if there is a none global warming-related theory to that.

Our hotels (Oklahoma City) are starting to fill up. Rooms are out south of us for sure.

My hotel is up to 60% occupied. For the last night of a holiday weekend..that's a LOT.

Here in Shreveport/Bossier City, our hotels, motels, and shelters are maxed out. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that the same can be said for Minden, Ruston, Monroe, and then West towards Dallas.

It's strange, but I took the dog out at daybreak and it was calm, cool, and not a cloud in the sky. Not one hint of what's to come. Latest forecasts say that we should be getting 6-12 inches of rain with some areas getting 20-24.
