With Gustav bearing down, we can't drop our guard with Hanna. I also just saw where two more tropical storms are brewing and show potential to develop to hurricane status.

Emergency officials in Georgia are preparing for people trying to escape two hurricanes, even as the state is still recovering from local damage caused by a Hurricane Fay’s tornadoes and rains.

Warm Gulf Waters Expected to Refuel Gustav
Gustav's passage over Cuba took a toll on its wind speed, but it was heading over warmer Gulf waters, which are expected to reinvigorate the storm, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida
I figured I'd throw in the occasional news .... but I'm pretty sure most of the US is informed (at least I hope so )

I was thinking about how bad these people have it, but then I remember every time you turned around in the 90s, some town in Florida was getting wiped off the map. Kind of strange how the tracks take on a pattern that sticks for a few years. Wonder if there is a none global warming-related theory to that.
Man,it is a ghost town around me.Wind has already picked up a little,so I know you guys on the LA coast are starting to feel it .Again, good luck everyone.Newc, when is your brother going to Dallas? My daughter is there and she just told me that every hotel is full and are turning people away or sending them to shelters..........
Here in Shreveport/Bossier City, our hotels, motels, and shelters are maxed out. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that the same can be said for Minden, Ruston, Monroe, and then West towards Dallas.
It's strange, but I took the dog out at daybreak and it was calm, cool, and not a cloud in the sky. Not one hint of what's to come. Latest forecasts say that we should be getting 6-12 inches of rain with some areas getting 20-24.
