Actually, for all your laughing smiley faces, I can't think of a single band in their early twenties that come anywhere close to prime Metallica. There isn't any. I don't understand your laughter.
The only bands still easily beating Metallica are the old ones - Megadeth with UA, AC/DC with their new one judging by the new single, Maiden, Priest with Angel of Retribution.
No new band can hold a fucking candle to any classic metal band.
You're right - Metallica aren't the best metal band. Iron Maiden are.
You think some young band are? Tell me who.
Trivium? Bullet For My Valentine? That's hilarious.
Smilies were put in place because I thought some of this shit was fuckn funny as fuck...
My band plays out with a lot of young metalheads...Those are the ones I was speaking of...hence..."I know teenage metal bands that..."
13th Profit from Vancouver is one of the last ones we played with...
Gross Misconduct
Every black Minute
Hybrids of Exile
Skullhammer
Atre este
These are just a few local bands that say more to me that Metallicas last decades...and I don't think I ever compaired them to "Prime Metallica" I was talking...In the NOW...
Here is our Myspace Bro...Check em out...Our drummer is 18 and can play any Maiden or JP song out there...Eric...Check his site...
I don't say much here anymore cuz its all subjective in the end and people tend to take ones opinions to heart...but...I dont talk out of my ass and I have a pretty good history to draw on...
(Insert alternative lol smily to show I am not having a fit)
It seems to me that alot of guys on here like more modern sounding metal with downtuned/7 string guitars and the screaming/growling vocals. Personally, I think most of that crap is as cliched now as the hair glam scene in the 80's. I can't tolerate it for very long personally. But hey to each his own. I bought the new Testament and yeah, it is pretty good, but I got bored of it quick. I'll give Metallica this... the new disc has alot of variety and has kept me interested so far. Actually, it inspired me to write/play guitar the last couple of days if you can believe that.
I think this is pretty rocking tune... For the record, I'm 37 and have been listening to Metallica since I was 13 (1984), so I'm not a post Black album bandwagon jumper.
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
I'll be 39 Oct 30th...and I have been listening to Metal since I can remember...Shit...I was hooked on CCR before I went to school...Cuz I thought Bad Moon Rising and Fortunate Son were so brutal!
I do NOT like Nu Metal...But I like growly vocals as well as melodic and I was one of the biggest Metallica fans out there...I would shove Metallica down everyones throat! (Funny shit...Insert smilie here)
I used to do reviews/interviews for a metal mag and had to sit through the awesome, the good, the bad and the down right shitty...So I have pretty good listening skills...
I play in a band that is well respected in my part of the globe...Written and/or been part of writing a good 50 metal tunes that we have been drawing crowds with since 99'
So I don't know what it takes to be "qualified" but these ARE only opinions…Seems to me that my opinions are rubbing the wrong way…Not my intention folks…

Yes. Hail! Well said Blind Muddy Sevser etc... . I think what I have heard so far is enough for my ears for the next decade or so. The blank spaces between songs is what I looked forward too after listening to the first few tracks. Sorry! My opinion only of course. Yes. There are a few shining moments but no enough to carry the rest for me.
The day that never comes sucks. I really just can't stand it. The rest is pretty decent though. I'll buy it. I just won't listen to TDTNC. Just got the new Testament..holy shit, that is great!!

I heard a few off of the new Testament and I liked what I have heard so far too.
