Looks like a Nov 4th release date.

My buddy e-mailed the Yngwie site asking if Yngwie has ever listened to becker. They responded "Yngwie is constantly asked about Cacophony/Jason Becker, but he has never listened to them".

      Also, from a becker interview:
      12. What rock star deserves a smack in the mouth and why?
Well, I don't know personally but from stories I have heard, Yngwie.

        Again..a little inside insight.

No, I was joking with Owens about the same thing. When Rob "Came out" ALOT of people thought Tim was gay since he was the singer for JP. He always told them .."you must mean the other gay guy"..

Tim, is a great guy and he's talented..but relies on his scream. He knows that..the first song he wrote with Beyond Fear is "Scream Machine". He's a great screamer, but a pretty mediocre SINGER. When these bands realize he's a one trick screaming pony..he's booted. He is very pitchy and has shaky, nasily tone..but he's safe when he's screaming...whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa! He won't be with Yngwie long...I heard he wasn't too please. But I seen Tim having good nights, hopefully he'll have more!

Ironically, His Beyond Fear guitarist has been after my singer/bud for a few years now. He would have made a much better singer for JP, IE and Yng. I've posted his cover band and our Bed Of Nails stuff. He nails anyone he's doing from Lemmy, Coverdale, Staley, Cornell, King Diamond, Halford, Warrel Dane, Anselmo..especially his faves Paul Stanley, Chris Cornell, and Matt Barlow. Ripper can't do Dio, Coverdale, Russel Allen and Jorn Lande but Ty Cook certainly can! He also can do the whole ATG style death vox if needed.

You should Ty's spin of Tim Owens..its fuggin' spot on and hilarious!! It cracks me up!!

Tim was at the right place at the right time. I know what that's like myself being in a really good VH tribute band. We were Tim's favorite local band..he never missed a show. DLR's management contacted us and our singer auditioned for Van Halen in '97. It made the local papers as did Ripper.

Tim was denied ANY lyrical input in JP, IE or Yngwie. Beyond Fear was his baby..he even wrote most of the music on guitar. I was so disappointed when that cd came out because that was his chance to show his writing abilities..he wrote the lamest shit..an excerpt if I may. "can you see it..can you see it..can you see it..its coming for you"..repeat 8X....C'mon WTF!! Can you see what..a pud?! WTF!!!

His first effort Winters Bane's '93 "Heart of a killer" was his best! The new singer is doing just as good..and he wants to work with John (Cleveland Metal) I know they were talking about it.

Judas Priest with Tim = Nuetered Priest

Iced Earth with Tim = Nuetured Earth

Yngwie with Tim..well, you'll see. I predict lots of screaming and butchered versions of the vocals by the great Mark Boals, Mats Levin, Doogie White, Jorn Lande, Jeff Scott Soto, Joe Lynn Turner, Goran Edman..OK Ripper is better than Ron Keel. He's good but NOT the caliber of those above singers. He got that gig because of JP, a major stepping stone. There was alot of great feedback on the emailed colaboration with Yngwie on the Ozzy tribute ..a very enthusiastic performance by both parties.

At least Mark Boals sang on that album. He's my favorite Yngwie singer besides Mike Vescera. I'm not digging Ripper too much with Yngwie.

I actually haven't bought an Yngwie album since The Seventh Sign and Magnum Opus that Mike sang on in '94 and '95. Also saw him on both those tours.

I have all Yngwie's stuff..prolly for the fact that I am a fan and a completist. Whenever I like a muscian, I want to have their whole body of work. Not that I'll listen to it..but I dod from time to time.

I even have a band that Yngwie produced from '85 called Third Stage Alert..I bought that new..see.

Yngwie was also from the Silver Mountain camp from sweden before he came here. Actually their guitarist Jonas Hansson is awesome..they've been putting out stuff since '81/82..OOP and hard to find. They also featured the Johansson brothers..Yngwie was not breaking any ground ..he was just GREAT and a little bit more OTT . That's what was going on in Sweden..John Norum was another example. Here's Silver Mountain..try youtubing this shit.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w28J1JID3fw

Basically, they all ripped of Uli Jon Roth and Ritchie Blackmoore

Cool. I used to like to buy a band's whole body of work, but then after awhile I just started getting sick of certain things and gave up on certain bands. I'll probably pick up some of his other stuff eventually.
That Silver Mountain thing is nice! Looks like he's having a hard time destroying that Les Paul looking thing at the end.

He wouldn't be who he is without the influences that he refuses to reveal ..something he's done through his entire music career. But, the bottom line is he one of THREE most influential rocks guitarist of our time!

He wear his influences on his sleeve. Luckily I'm versed enough in the metal/shred to know who they are..other than the obvious players. I paid 35 bucks a pop for three Silver Mountain cds around 1985. 1984 was when the shred tsunami hit with with the first Rising Force release..then followed by Tony Mac's '85 Edge of sanity. Shred was there before but it was always somehat subdued within the context of songs with the exception of Van Halen...and Uli Roth and Frank Marino before that.

The underground really took notice of Yngwie with Steeler thanks to Mike Varney.

I'll be back to elaborate more..much to cover there really.

Oh, Ingvay, when will you learn to make a decent album cover.
                        "Dear Dr. Bill,
I work with a woman who is about 5 feet tall and weighs close to 450 pounds and has more facial hair than ZZ Top." - Jack The Riffer

"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

                          .
I've heard him live on the Priest stuff, AND on Iced Earth stuff and he can do more than hold a note. He's a fantastic singer.
Too good for this fat widdler anyway.

I thought the cover to "War to End all Wars" was pretty cool.

that is because that is Frank Frazetta's awesome painting called Death Dealer V (he did a number of Death Dealer paintings, his own creation).

YJM has really become a parody of himself, and that's a sad thing. such a talent, yet he photoshops his album covers of his face to make himself look thinner and all hawt and shit, and it's super obvious to any real fan who's seen him live over the years as I have. that's not the real guy there in that new album cover pic.

love the talent, and many times he can be humble and cool, but the album covers over the past 15 yrs have sucked the big one.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
