  • Patriots Do Fans and Media overrate QBs importance?

I mean compared to how coaches rate a QBs impact,

Every one around here, even before Brady got hurt, always said "If Bradys hurt the seasons over"

I'm actually more interested in todays Pats game than any regular season game in a while,

I predict that Cassel will do OK and fit into the system.

Maybe I'm believing Coach Bills spin, who of course is acting like his car just got a flat tire and all he's got to do is get out the jack, put on the spare and keep driving!

1 player does not make a team ,Tom Brady has had a very succesfull career. He had his chance when Drew Bledsoe got hurt - wonder if he's thinking about that now ???

When they go up against the best defenses, they will miss Brady's ability to stay cool & check down to his 3rd or 4th option. It takes years + an innate ability that some guys just don't have. Anybody who thinks he's nothing more than a system QB is crazy and needs to watch some film. I'm not a fan, and I'm saying this grudgingly, but he's one of the best ever. Right up there with Montana, imo.

I don't think they overrate a QB more than they underrate the other positions. A QB can't win unless his line protects him, his receivers get open, the runningbanck get critical yards, the defence keeps the other team at bay, etc, etc......

On the other hand, the Panthers have pulled through on two strong teams that I dreaded when I saw the schedule...SD and Chicago. Delhomme is back.
The strength of the QB isn't just handing off the ball, it is the field general of old.
Jake isn't all that impressive, but he is confident, and that turns inches into yards.

We'll just have to wait and watch about the Patriots.

Time will tell, having said that. I do not believe the Patsies will go far WO Brady.

Some other Steel team will take the AFC.

Not a big football fan here, but it's obvious to me that without the QB, the play never even gets started. You can have the best O.L., the best recievers, the best running backs, etc. but without a good QB you have nothing.

It's like a goalie in hockey. You can score 25 goals a game, but without a goalie you're still going to lose.

I dunno, i think you can win the big one with an average QB. Hell look at Brad Johnson, Mr. Checkdown won a ring with the Bucs.

Or Trent Dilfer with the Ravens, I don't think any defense was nervous going into a game against him.
