    haha..yep, keep goin'. My kid fuggin' smokes Lars..even back in the day.

    My kid LOVES John Bonham, Bill Ward, Dave Weckl, and he's up on all the metal guys like Pete Sandavol, Nick barker, Hellhammer, Daniel Erlandsson and ect..yeah, too much to list there. He likes Neil Pert but don't like Rush..He'll be 14 in October. One of the best drummers I've played with...he's got the speed, meter, chops and groove!

        Lars was more like a man with a vision than a super drummer back in the day. Only 1 out of 10 million will be nearly as good as Dave Weckl, Lars knew that and instead of hopelessy trying to become a drumming god he tried to make musical statements with the band as a whole... and it worked for him.

              Can't argue that. He laid down the perfect grooves for those songs..it wouldn't be the same without him. They just went in a direction I didn't like and never recovered..even with this back to "metal" cd. Its still much better than most new stuff MTV promotes! I can't even watch that crap..it all sound the same.

              Alot of bands did this..not just Metallica. Queenryche ain't what they used to be either..their last one was lame attempt..I traded it off.

                They played another song on the radio from them that was actually pretty good. Maybe I will have to get this frekin album.

                  I bought the vinyl @ BB then ran into the deal at Hot Topic with a CD and a shirt for $10. So I bought the cd and a shirt. Sometime last week I d/l'ed the Guitar Hero Rip and it sounds much better than the official release, so I listen to that. Bah....piss poor production on the album.

                      If they sort out the clipping i'll buy it, i'm not wasting money on a sub par product that I wouldnt expect from a garage recording let alone a band with massive budget and contract...

                      Lars is distinctively average as a drummer but he has seemed to do a lot of the arrangments and whatever.....

                        I actually like the new album, and I really don't see what the problem is with the drumming. Lars Ulrich has a bigger problem than his drumming - he's one of the biggest pricks in the world and he tried to become Fred Durst for a while when Limp Bizkit were "cool". But his drumming fits the band. Like Phil Rudd, it's not fancy, but it suits the music.
                        I'm more worried about Kirk's solos - they fucking suck. I love pretty much every solo he ever did up to and including the Black album, but he's not written a single good solo since and it's inexcusable that he couldn't come up with anything good for this new album. The framework was there. He just sucks.

                                I'm not a big Metallica fanboy, but I think this album REALLY good. I like just about every song on it. I'm not listening to it to nitpick Kirk's solos, the production, or Lars drumming. I think it is an excellent release. I've been listening to it nonstop since I bought it.

                                I think most of you guys have just grown out of the old school style and are into newer metal. If this exact same album came out in the early 90's it would be praised as a classic.
