OOPS! I stand corrected! guess the guy is still in Two bands.
from wikipedia:
In 2004, vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt left Bloodbath to free up more time for his primary band Opeth. To replace him, Bloodbath brought in Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy). The lineup changed further, with Dan Swanö switching to play the guitar instead of drums. Martin Axenrot (Witchery, Satanic Slaughter and now Opeth) took his place and the band was now bigger and more serious, no longer functioning as just a secondary project. The band's second full release, Nightmares Made Flesh, was released in Europe on September 27, 2004.
In February 2005, Tägtgren left the band due to "conflicting schedules". That same year, Mikael Åkerfeldt rejoined the band for a single live show at Germany's Wacken Open Air on August 5. Prior to the show, the band commented on the Wacken show: "Not only the first, but also the last gig for Bloodbath (with Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals)" (later also turning out to be the last one with Dan Swanö). In September of 2005, Bloodbath started a search for a new lead vocalist.
In August 2006, the band announced the departure of Dan Swanö from their ranks due to musical differences and Swanö's restrictions to devote more time and effort to the project in the future. They simultaneously closed the vocal auditions, announcing that no suitable singer had been found.
On March 27th, 2007 the band announced that a new lineup would shortly be unveiled, along with news that they were producing new material, to be released on a mini-CD towards the end of summer. In August 2007, band member Jonas Renkse wrote a message on the band's official discussion forum which suggested that work was in progress[2] In December 2007, the CD's title, Unblessing the Purity, was announced in Mikael Åkerfeldt's "best of 2007" album list. It was later confirmed by Blakkheim on the band's forum.
On January 30th 2008, it was announced via the Bloodbath website that Mikael Åkerfeldt would be rejoining the line-up on vocals along with new member Per Eriksson (ex-21 Lucifers, ex-Genocrush Ferox) on guitars.
The new E.P. Unblessing the Purity includes 4 songs and was released on March 10th 2008.

Bill Z;
My freakin' god! Into Eternity? That is definitely a keeper! Awesome band. Great playing.
The vocalist is like a modern day Halford with today's metal vocal elements. Pretty much as you described; Dynamic, as it were. I gotta send these Youtube links to my bud. He'll freak!
This brings back the memories I felt the first time I heard Judas Priest's, Sad Wings Of Destiny. I raved about this band and Halford vocalist to my bud and lent him my record. He freaked, needless to say. As previously mentioned, he'll do so again.
Thanks for the memories, Hornsy!
I know all I do is sing praises of the new stuff being posted and reminisce about how it affects me, without ever contributing any vids of my own. Like I mentioned before, I'm out of the loop somewhat. Slowly, but surely, I'm emerging from the abyss!

Actually its not a prob whatsoever..there's tons of new metal bands..inspired by great 80's metal with awesome vocals. I didn't forget this thread. If this thread is on page 50..it'll be revised. This thread ain't going anywhere.
But it looks like my own thread poofed. Many things going on including family and music stuff. I'm preparing for youtube demo for my freind's guitar co, and maybe guitar contest after that. Yeah, I gotta practice..but I'm feeling mighty cocky lately..
Please, post vids, but give a heads up what kind of metal it is...be it Vintage, Modern with clean vocals, or harsh vocals or post the band name. So people have the option to skip the link. Many just don't like the harsh stuff. My agenda is to ease them into it...just like how we grew into it.
I've been peeking in the forum here and there..talking amps lately.
:idea:You know what!! "cookie monster" haters can see how it can be used as DYNAMICS in this great band and singer..they fucking kill live!!!

Here's Stu showing death vox as dynamics..REAL singers have the best clean and gruff voices..not these "Core" hacks that can't carry a note to save their fuggin' life!..BIG DIFFERENCE..I know this!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwIBq...eature=related
Too many "core" hacks turning off so many people..I can't blame them..they're fuggin' horrible. That's all that Headbangers ball promotes. I stopped watching it all together..fuggums. Who needs 'em. We have THIS thread!!!
Balls of metal..
Bill Z
OH BTW..NM's "The Voyager" DVD is NOT released here yet..Best Buy has it coming!!!

Damn I leave town for a week and this thing starts going away.
Alrighty then, no one posted Bloodbath did they?
From what I understand the singer was doing this as a side project, leaves to focus more on Opeth, Then leaves Opeth to come back to bloodbath for good. This MF'er starts beating some ass immediately
Enjoyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhQyEV4ltn4

All great Kamelot songs. March of Mephisto is a neat song. Karma is still by far my favourite Kamelot song though:

As I mentioned to you dudes before; Alot of these bands are new to me. I know not as to how long they've been in existence. I suspect some have been around for some time and some actually are new.
I'm a fan of alot of newer stuff; Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, In Flames, Lamb Of God, to name a few.{Killswitch, In Flames and LOG I like muchly!} Though those examples are diverse enough and truly show where their roots, sound and style comes from, {80's, Metallica and Pantera type stuff.}, they just don't have that ring of familiarity as say, Dream Evil or Pink Cream 69 does for me.
Metal to me, has always been a topic that's close to my heart. Metal has so many sub-genres. Only in metal you find experimentation with other styles or genres into their music. Reggae, classical, jazz, funk, progressive, folk, ethnic, to name a few. The only genre that metal hasn't touched yet is country.
I'm not a country fan at all. I appreciate what they do, but I'm afraid this 50yr old is too much of a metalhead and doesn't want to grow up! Truth be told, I don't think the two styles can ever mesh well. That'd be like bleu cheese and garlic on a fruit danish. Yuck!
However, Johnny Cash's versions of Rusty Cage and Hurt ain't half bad! I just don't think Achy, Breaky Heart will translate well going the other way!
Cheers.

Steel bath suicide is classic..that and Chainheart machine. I love Soilwork..their last sworn to the great divide..you would like that one, good songs. The only one that disappointed me was stabbing the drama.

I'll have to keep an eye out for it, Bill. I found Scariot in a local store not long ago, but went back today and it was gone. Picked up Steelbath Suicide instead - I saw Soilwork opening for Anthrax years ago but it's taken me til now to finally pick one of their albums up.
I also picked up both The Darkness albums in a two disc set! Hardcore metalhead, me!
In my defense, I did see Alchemist & Meshuggah the other night

You crazy sumbitches. Guys..lets try to concentrate on the more accessible metal to convert our memeber still stuck in the 80's. I know we all love the gritty stuff. For me it was Coroner that was the bridge to more extreme styles of metal. Lets try to turn people onto nice good gonge, they're familar with stuff like that..before we force 'em to drop large amounts of acid.
I say fuck all the genres and sub genres'. Let keep it simple. Power/Prog metal and Death/Black metal..well keep focused on the prior before we unleash the fury!
