ARGHH red lights of death

i came down early this morning to have a quick game of cod4 before anyone else snatched the TV,

i managed to get one deathmatch in then my 360 froze so i turned it off and when i turned it back on the dreaded red lights of death.

damn it was only like 6 months old with not more than 5 hours a week play time. now i have to send it away

but at least its on warranty but now i have to wait 3 weeks to play any online games this sucks

anyone else want to share their pain??

Quite frankly, I think anyone who bought a 360 recently is throwing away money. You should know by now that they are pieces of junk.

They are. My 360 has been sent back 4 times i think, and i've given up on it.

try Counter Strike for the computer, its the best fps ever made.

they'll just ship you a new/refirbed one rather quickly//was within a week both times for me. I did it twice already for my sons 360.

COD4 is far superior on PC IMO too.

Actually, the newer 360s seem to be much better. Mine's quiet and doesn't really get hot at all and my friend's Elite has lasted being on about 10 hours a day(he leaves it on all day, even when at school) for about a year now.

+1. I just replaced my first-gen with the new Jasper. For once, I can't use my 360 to warm my feet in the winter or as a bathroom fan

I don't like the whole game console thing. But they keep releasing more and more games only on game consoles, which makes the life harder for PC users. How the hell am I gonna play the Force Unleashed when it comes out?!?!?!

Yeah, the Xbox failure rate is bad. The PS3 is something like .3% I think. However, the Xbox online is more damned fun. I love my PS3, but, it never gets played.Lou

Yeah, been there done that. Got the 3 r.o.d. At least the replacemrnt was rather painless and the new one has lasted 6 months so far.

My first 3rod was before the new fandangled warranty. Infact it wasn't a 3rod it was a different video error but nobody really knew about it so I 'fixed' it myself That gave me an extra 6 months out of it. My new one I stripped right away and modded the fuck out of it with cooling and stuff, and besides a few lockups it's been great. They are all a ticking time bomb though, its a matter of luck out of the yield to how good the chips are. The redesign is coming very soon though, 65nm manufacturing on both gpu and cpu, this should bring it to decent reliability.

About the Elites being more reliable....not true. I've had my Elite for about 9 months. Yesterday, sure enough, got the red rings of death. They are very poorly designed. I have two XBOX 360's, one that I got when they first came out, and the elite that I just had to send to be replaced, and between the two of them, this is the 5th repair. Luckily, its all under warranty, but still very poor.

Mine was made in mid-late July and it's ridiculously quiet compared to the big rig engine my brother owns. The only thing that makes noise is the disc drive. when there's no game going you wouldn't even know that it's on.
