Luckily, its all under warranty, but still very poor.
It's so strange that my friend's Elite is so quiet. His was made last year and he has it in a semi-enclosed space. How it hasn't RROD'd is beyond me. When I went to his house on Friday it was turned on. I asked him how long he leaves it on and he said 10-15 hours a day. You can't hear it at all, even the disc drive. It defies everything I've heard about 360's. It should have died months ago.

There are more 360 repairs than PS3 repairs also because there are more 360s to go bad. Sony was what, a year or two behind? They don't have the physical units in place that MS has, ergo, fewer bad ones.

All 3 of my 360s have been sent back for repair. First one cracked up on Oblivion after 4 months. 2nd one lasted over a year doing Dead Rising Infinite Mode runs (where it has to stay on 24/7/365 because there's no save), and my 3rd died in 30 days.
Never had the RROD, just stopped reading discs.

Anyhoo, I've got the 1st and 2nd always hooked up and nearly almost always running, and with very few exceptions (like brownouts and Oblivion's caching system), no problems.

The quietness and sound everyone is referring to is mostly because of the drives MS used. The fans made a difference as well, but, the drives seem to cause the most noise in my experience.

The BenQ's are probably the loudest, the Sammy's and the new Lite-On that can't be flashed is probably one of the quietest ones out their. The Hitachi 0079FK model is also super quiet. -Lou

Sure i understand the whole MS being out longer than the PS3. But Newc all three of yours have gone out for repair. Thats what 100% of yours? MS should've waited a bit longere and worked out the bugs. Just like Sony did. Thats why the PS3 was help up. They encountered some problems and fixed them before the release. If Newc has had all 3 of his out for repair. Thats not a good sign for the 360 no is it. I have freinds here that have both. Altho they love the playability of the 360 a bit more and of course theres HAlo. But ;they say the PS3 has been much more reliable for them. Lets do a bit of a survey. Who of us here have both and which has been more reliable. Also out of those with the 360 how many have had to get it fixed even once? Same for the PS3 owners. And see if we can come up with a reasonable assesment of reliablity of them in comparison.

I have both. The PS3 has not given me 1 problem....not one ever.
The first Xbox went out at about 7 months. Got my second. It has had disc read errors since I got it. Bought a third just in case.

I always say the PS3 is liek a Ferrari.... its a finely tuned machine that works perfectly, but, you are the only one that has one out of all your friends.

The 360 is like a Camaro, you take it out and thrash, fix it alot, but all your friends have one.-Lou

Good comparison, but theres really little performance differences. The ps3 was delayed cause they wanted the bluray, its that simple. It's that reason that they're so expensive too. And the sad thing is bluray sucks for game loading speed after all that. With the ps2 (which I bought at launch) I was stoked to get a dvd player aswell! But I'm still not interested in bluray. Also gt5p sucked, that hurt any chance of me picking one up. The whole gta thing aswell. Got gta3 on release aswell (luckily, soon was off the shelves and censored here!).

Oh and that 8 year old ps2 hasn't missed a beat, onto my second 360, will buy a 3rd over a ps3, it's got the games I wants

I have a 360 that I got a couple months after launch. I have upgraded it to the 120GB hard drive and the external HD-DVD drive. It has yet to fail but I do get dirty disc errors after a couple of hours of playing. I have one of the drives in it that sounds like a sopwith camel in a power dive.

I also have a recent 40GB PS3 that I've upgraded with a 250GB drive. Each system has its advantages and disadvantages. The Xbox has a big advantage with its media center functionality for me, but I find I typically prefer playing games on the PS3.

Anyways, here's a nice shirt for all the 360 owners...
