Much to my neighbor's dismay I cleaned out the garage today and set up and mic'ed my drumset. Now I can track drums in my garage! I can already track guitars and bass in my bedroom, so now I can do entire demos in my home. Or albums if you are into black metal.
For all you tech nerds out there, I am using 4 mics on the drums. A pair of SM57's as overheads(these thrings really DO turn up everywhere), an SM56 on the snare and a e609 on the kick. As you can surely see, I am used to mic'ing guitars. These four run into a API 4 channel mic pre, then into an Alesis 16 channel mixer getting mixed down to one channel on my tape machine. I also have a dbx compressor and an Alesis reverb unit.
