I don't think Jeremy owes us any explanation, this is his board and I appreciate the use of it. I became a Platinum member just because of all the help I've gotten in the tech Forum alone, it's saved me alot of $$$ in guitar repairs and setups, I really don't care about the extra privileges, I feel I get my money's worth. As far as ads go I won't buy anything from anybody who is not a sponsoring dealer.

I don't think anybody has any issues with the ads themselves, just the fact that they suddenly popped up out of nowhere. I thought maybe the site had been hacked or something.
As far as obtrusiveness, it would be nicer if they were at the top or bottom rather than the middle of the posts, but as somebody who enjoys the site for free it will hardly stop me from visiting.GTWGITS! - RacerX

Why, he didn't tell the Admins eitherDon't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

I haven't paid because I don't think the benefits are worth it and I would like to see where my money is going.
It will be very interesting to see how many people renew their memberships.
Oh, and simply adding *.googlesyndication.com to IE's restricted sites list got rid of the ads. No, I don't have to click on them, but they break up the flow of a thread.Last edited by Spivonious; 10-06-2008, 11:47 AM.Scott

It's his board... he can do whatever he wants with it.
I paid my membership fee because I feel I'm getting something in return.
Even if it took a little while to get it it.
But hey... can't fault the guy for trying to make a buck.
While I may not agree with him on a lot of things, this is certainly not one of them.
Last time I checked, this is still a free country.
Don't like the ads... buy a membership or just ignore them.
You're free to leave at any time.-Rick

Ads seem to have disappeared for me now?
Google AdSense only pays when you click on one of the links. Simply viewing them doesn't give the website any income.Fwopping, you know you want to!
