Haha... if this site was on a 20 dollar a month hosting, it wouldn't even run with the bandwidth it draws...
Pay the extremely reasonable platinum or weather the ads. I'm on less cool forums with a lot more idiots than here and they want a lot for ad free usage.
Musician... They have to be the most cheap ass people out there short of cops...
For the guys that post ways to circumvent it, you guys just suck... That seriously disrespectful and don't deserve the information and benefits being a member here offer.
Ugh.... Whiners...

Oh jeez, now I feel guilty. I didn't have a clue what anyone was talking about because my ad blocker blocks all the ads. Where are they supposed to show up? I don't see a space for them so I'm guessing they're pop-up type things. This is all very strange..."Dear Dr. Bill,

1. the ads dont generate revenue until you click on them.
2. i dont ever click on ads.
3. Opera offers an inbuilt method to block unwanted crap, Firefox offers a plugin. Ad blockers are the most downloaded plugins for firefox afaik, theres a reason for that.
4. last time i checked the internet was a FREE network, How i chose to view the internet is entirely up to me, i dont click ads period, ads on a page generate more bandwidth than a page without ads, they also make pages extremely cluttered in some extreme cases. If your on a limited broadband package, say with a 1Gb download limit, and your on the net alot, visiting alot of varying websites, all those ads will eat into your bandwidth.
i dont click ads therefore i dont want them eating into my monthly download allowance, therefore i block them, as do hundreds of thousands of people of all over the world who are intelligent enough to realise that Internet Explorer is not the only web browser available.
and no i'm not insulting your intelligence by implication of the last statement, just speaking a truth about internet usage.
oh and you cant 'police' whether someone has an ad blocker enabled on their browser, you cant 'force' someone to view ads.My music:

all this disrespecful shit gets on my tits.
I'd like to apologise right now for this rant before it turns ugly because you take this the wrong way. I'm just letting off a bit of steam, its not personal.
Ads are 'optional'. just because the TV companies need adverts to generate income streams to provide the very programs your watching DOESNT mean you have to be obliged to sit through them all and watch them.
Just becasue the admin of this site has opted to used ads DOES NOT mean i have to sit here and look at them and have them eat into my bandwidth and make my viewing experience messy and broken up.
I'll let common sense prevail......
peace and love, like i said, nothing personal, just letting off a bit of steam and a personal opnion.Last edited by Guyver1; 10-07-2008, 01:07 AM.My music:

My intention was to illustrate to people who may not understand or care, just how much ventures like this can cost to run. The figures I used were taken from this site's hosting company's web-site and are publicly available for those who care to do a bit of digging. If you don't like that, then that's your problem not mine.
I also pointed out that AdSense only pays when users click on the links. Again I'm only stating what's on Google's web-site. If you're looking at getting more revenue from the site then maybe you should also be looking at selling ad space per 1000 impressions or so. But users are still free to block those if they wish. Does everyone here who visits Henrik's priceless audiozone site click on his advert links to give him a helping hand, I doubt it?
Seeing adverts in between posts doesn't bother me at all, I actually realise this is not a simple $20 a month site and appreciate using it for free. Having 'Head of Hosting' on my business cards does gives me a little bit of insight into what's going on.Fwopping, you know you want to!

You can say whatever, and do whatever to circumvent the ads. But TELLING people how to do it, is BS and you deserve to get banned for it. Like Troy did for his thread. Let people figure on their own.
THIS isn't a free internet public service to view how you choose. THIS is a private site and you get what you get. And what you get is a wealth of info and knowledge for free, so suffer a few ads, or pay a couple dollars to not get them. People with over 100 posts don't get them I think anyways. If you have to circumvent the ads, whatever, just don't post about how to do so.
If you have a monthly download allowance that these lil ads will cause a problem with, you need to stay off these sort of sites in geneal and worry about getting a decent ISP.
Ugh...

I assume the reason I can't see any ads is because I'm a platinum member?
