I don't pay attention to ads, but I would buy from Matt, Piney or any of the other sponsoring dealers in a heartbeat.

P.S.- I've gotta say, I'm not too happy with recent moves. I gladly signed up for platinum membership to support the forum. And part of that was an expectation that those "dues" would avoid things like advertisements for the forum. I'll say that again for emphasis: for the forum. i.e., As a whole. Not just for platinum members.

It's Jeremy's forum to do with as he sees fit. But, more and more, these moves reek like limburger cheese. If he's looking to generate revenue, maybe he should just consider selling the forum itself to someone else.

matt, it could also be your browser settings. i use camino and i wouldn't see the ads even if i logged out.

pat, i agree with you about the sale. sadly, the jcf is a shell of what it once was years ago. so, why do i stay? eh, i'd say that it's a mix between habit and some of the people here; yourself included.

I haven't seen a single ad other than Matt's. The boards look the same as far as I can tell. As for the forums, sure, I paid my $20 and I've gotten my monies worth. If the owner can make additional money off the site with ads, more power to him. If he can sell the site and make a buttload of coinage, let'er rip tater chip!

correct. however, this board for years has only allowed paid sponsorship; i've helped administrate this board for years to that policy. having the appearance of free ads for other dealers is a big (albeit unintended) slight to those that have sponsored the board for years.

hell, i don't ever see the ads. if there wasn't a thread about it, i wouldn't have known about it.

Ads are unfortunately what run the modern world. They bring businesses revenue, while giving other companys money to produce the internet for showing the ads. No ads, no revenue, no revenue no internet, no internet, no business...

ANYONE can bid to be shown in those Google ads, they cost money, a staggering amount for some. Their placement, corresponds to the amount they bid.
