  • Folks in cover bands doing party rock

After being part of an interesting jam session on stage last Friday (over an hour of improv on various tunes and riffs), I've decided that I need to start a side project that will make the crowd standup, move and dance!

So you, folks, who are in cover bands doing some kind of party rock, I wanna know the songs that hit the people!

I'm thinking starting a project that would aim a crowd of over 30 years old of age. I'm looking for songs playable by a band composed of a drummer, bass and one or 2 guitars with no synth really needed.

So, share with me your songs lists or ideas.

And please, no cheesy music, I'm not looking for corporate/wedding kind of set list. Stuff enjoyable by a various style crowd with a bit of a rockin' edge!

    Rock on!

Whenever I have seen cover bands that do a variety of music playing the tunes that always seem to get the women out dancing are AC/DC, Back in Black and You Shook Me All Night Long.

AC/DC... That was already up my list.
Rush 2112... Good idea but I don't want to spend weeks working the song with the band.
Free Bird... Did not think about this one but can make a great jamming song for sure!

Thanks for the help guys! Keep the ideas coming.

Those are all good as well as AC/DC You Shook Me. I don't know about Back in Black.

Maybe some Def Leppard (Pour Some Sugar).

If it's just a drinking / bar party, Iron Maiden tunes go over well.

Anything popular by Crue, Godsmack, Metallica, Nickelback, or just turn on your local radio station and that will give you a good idea.

Here in the sticks where I am. there is a really big call for classic and southern rock. Alot of the more modern rock cover bands never seem to last long.
I have found that Tom Petty (or Palm Sweaty) is always a pretty big hit no matter the song.we're currently doing Running down a dream, Mary Janes Last Dance and Breakdown!..

                            We are also doing...
