I understand you know nothing about it. But was it necessary to denigrate it? It is said that the Stanley Cup is the most coveted trophy in all of sports.

I understand that folks over there are rabid about what you'd call "football" (we call it soccer), but understand that there are folks over on this side who are probably just as rabid about Hockey.

I know that I'm getting a little too wound up over a sport, but this is my favorite sport. I'm sure you'd feel a tad insulted if I showed a lack of respect for yours.

As for Joe Elliot... If you're being paid to perform at any corporate event (and yes, that's basically what it was), a little research goes a long way.

Shit, common sense should have told Joe it was upside down just by the shape of it........he must have somehow missed the proper orientation when the guy drove it onstage on a motorcycle 60 seconds earlier.

Because if it's not running around like a chicken with it's head cutoff and then hitting the ground like you just got shot when someone brushes by you, it's not a worthwhile sport! (Disclaimer: I enjoy soccer, just not a huge fan of watching it)

The word-fight he started with Rikki Rockett and Bret Michaels this summer pretty much shows that Joe is kinda lacking in that department.

Are they still playing hockey? I thought that was cancelled a couple years ago.

In what way did I denigrate it? Because I called it "some ice hockey cup"? Well, that's what it IS isn't it? An ice hockey cup? I never said it was a load of shit or anything remotely like it.
I was laughing because Joe put his foot in it, just like he did with the Mexicans - it's funny cos he really should know where he is and what he's doing before doing a show. It's pure Spinal Tap.
I wasn't denigrating Ice Hockey in any way, so calm down!

We know you didn't mean anything by it. You must understand that here in Canada, at a young age, we are taught to pray before pictures in frames of this Holy Cup.

If we are lucky, we saw grainy black and white footage of helmletless players lifting it high above their toothless heads. LORD Stanley's Cup to be precise. Some make pilgrimages to have their photos taken with it. I think it was stolen once in Pittsburgh?

Hmm... I really stopped caring about hockey back when Gretzky was traded from the Oilers. For not being up on hockey, I have been excommunicated from many social groups. It is a heavy burden to be sure.

"We were sitting on the bus one day and there were 5 of us hanging out. There was only one beer left in the cooler and we actually all took a little cup and split it. It was a pathetic day in a rock and roll when five grown men have to be sitting there sharing a beer. "

LORD Stanley? So is this some kind of British invention?

Oct 9, 2008 Def Leppard held a concert to launch the new hockey season of the NHL. When the cup was brought out, the lead singer picked up Lord Stanley's cup...

No fuckin' wonder he put it upside down! I'd have done the same - it looks like it should be upside down! I started watching that vid, and when I saw the shape of the thing I burst out laughing cos it was so obvious he wouldn't know which way up it should go.
                      "It's upside down?"
