When I bought my first PC-1, I was afraid that I would have a hard time playing it due to the lack of inlays. I have a bad habit of looking at the fretboard when I play. Turns out, like shadowcat said, if the inlays aren't there, I use the side dots.

Not a big deal at all.

I never thought of this...but i actually look at my fret board quite a bit. Every now and then I will not look at the fretboard at all, or use the side markers, but that isn't to often.

I had to play a classical for school so I got used to using the side markers and now I never use the inlays.

I use two different scale guitars, and believe it or not, that throws me off just a lil bit when I go from one to the other. I tend to look at the face markers for a bit when I switch.

I agree. I have a Cort Explorer knock-off from the 80's that's 24.75 scale as opposed to the 25.5 all my other guitars are and it really messes me up. That's about the only time I look at the inlays.

You have to have markers on the board. No 2 ways about it. It really affects the tone. Van Halen is releasing his "Brown Sound" fret markers right before X-mas.-Lou

I find that it actually helps not having the fret markers, you don't automatically slide to the dots it kind of removes a lot of my "stand bys" on the neck
