Dunno, I saw that tour young man, hehe...

Although they had a lot of radio play at that time with You Really Got me and Jamies Crying and I was excited to see them, Vanhalen really wasn't that good, and Sabbath gave them terrible sound... After hearing that (and being sadly disapointed) Sabbath came out sounding pretty amazing. No one paid a ton of attention to VH that night.

Of course with VH, it was the beginning of a new era, but it sure didn't happen THAT night, haha...

On a side note, I forget the year, but I saw GnR early in the game and was actually VERY impressed. It took almost a year after the release for them to get really recognized. I believe the AFD came out in spring, I saw them in the fall with hardly anyone at the show. Then thet broke big the following spring.

I remember them coming on stage at 9pm and played till like 12:20. Was actually an amazingly good show. Although they played a ton of ACDC, they worked VERY hard and sounded great.

Pretty much after the next release, I was not impressed anymore, and could pretty much give a fuck about anything Axl is doing.

VR is listenable though. At least something was salvagable from GnR...

And yeah, Halford Trumps Axl any day...

Actually, it's said that Adler was doing the blowing, for drug money. But I guess it's like Axl's idol Elton said, "Whatever gets you through the night"...

I wonder how much money he got by blowing Steven Tyler?

I heard the song Chinese Democracy on O&A this morning. Sweet Christmas, that was horrible.

I had a copy of IRS that was leaked onto radio back in '01 or so. The drums are canned IIRC, and I'm not sure the bass is in it either but it has a pretty cool sound between Axl's crooning and crappy lyrics. I would give it a 6/10. I personally think if this album, after all these years, is not the next White Album or something, it will be a failure. To expand on what Cleveland Metal said though, a dj ont he radio yesterday said something hilarious, about how when they get the new single they will be the firts to play it, like he did when Appetite came out. BS, Appetite was a flop when it came out that no one really cared about until the record company pleaded with MTV to play Welcome to the Jungle at like midnight.

I heard the new title song today also, what a freaking joke. I couldn't believe what I was hearing is being passed off as Guns and Roses anything.

                    Without Slash's melodies, it's not G&R, period.

Look, you can't argue with 90 million albums sold. Hell, I alone count for like 3 versions of AFD, six or seven Lies, three versions of UYI 1&2.

For the love of good, stop breaking into my car and stealing my CD's!!!

G-n-R WAS the premier American rock band, for a little while. It just ain't the same. It was multiple guys being greater than the sum of their parts. Not like Axl wrote all the songs/music.

Only a matter of time before Axl flips his lid again and screws the fans that are still left, probably after one of Buckethead's chickens shits on his headband.

Probably be opening for Paula Abdul on the state fair circuit soon enough.

                            Well, you're partly right.

GNR with only Axl remaining doesn't have the creative tension needed to write the great songs like AFD and some of UYI had. ChiDem will be really mediocre compared to that.

However, Metallica has sucked since Master of Puppets, yet they've had their greatest commercial success after that. The Hot Topic crowd of lemmings will buy the Nu-GNR slop and the merch, and declare its greatness because they want to be involved with something great.

Whether it is really great or it really sucks doesn't matter because the drones want to be part of it and will buy it.

So it will suck, but sell like hotcakes anyway. I hope I'm wrong, but I think I'll be right about this.

with media beat-ups like that, I'm sure you'll be right, Rich. The album has achieved legendary status already, apparently, and it hasn't even been released yet. How much influence does the label have in generating these quotes? You know MTV is going proclaim the album as the greatest thing since 1967 and play the hell out of the singles. All the lemmings will be regurgitating the quotes above to justify why they bought the album, and anyone who says the album sucks will be branded a jealous hater. Because how could anyone not love the Brand New, 22-years-in-the-making, revolutionises music as we know it while staying faithful to everything that makes G'n'R great, masterpiece from America's Premier Rock Band? It would be unAmerican to not buy it!
