You can't go to the ground, the others will kick the crap out of you.
You have to find a place to put your back and hope that you can disorient the group enough to get a running start.

Then run as fast and as far as possible. Hopefully you can find a group to blend into.
With the witnesses around, most groups lose their nerve.

I wouldn't expect my kid to go all Jet-Li on their asses. But marshall arts / self defense might give them enough of an edge to survive and get away.

From the story, it was a verbal altercation until she pushed the first girl.
I'm not saying that it was not going to become violent, but, she instigated the physical aspect of it.

I think it made news because it underscores the fact that some people in america aren't ready for change, they're not ready to move forward.

Had the races of those involved been opposite, meaning multiple white girls against one black girl, then we'd have every black leader up in arms demanding that they be arrested for commiting hate crimes.

Why does racism still exist in this country? It's partially because 1/2 of our society is afraid to face the issue head on, and the other half perpetuates it. Perfect example. It's wrong for a white person to say "The N word" but not for a black person, and in fact its almost like a term of enderement(sp) between many black people. In my experience black people are allowed, even encouraged and expected to use racial slurs when describing anyone in any context. They even attack their own people like Colin Powel, Condaleza Rice, and Bryant Gumble for being "too white".

If we want to end racism in this country and move forward from it then we need to stop making fun of it. We should talk about it, but do so seriously and not treat it like a joke. People like Dave Chappel should have no more right to get on stage and make racial slurs about anyone, including other black people, than I have to get on a stage and make slurs about anyone.

I just skimmed the article and responses here. But seen more than my fair share to recognize its smell.

There is no such term as "Reversed racism". Racism is racism. But there is a double standard.

There was no mention of this on the evening news stations, including O'Reilly. There is what is call a "black out" reporting black on white crimes in the media. This has existed even before I became a cop in Jan '92. Especially during the Rodney King riots. Anyone remember that white trucker caught at the wrong place at the wrong time during that time?

With that said, let's play the most blatant "what if".. What if this victim was black with four white suspects. It would be all over the news.

Honestly, they probably saved his life. If he'd walked into that crowd and the cops hadn't been there then who knows what would have happened to him.

The cops job is to keep the peace, and that's what they did. Letting that guy walk into that particular crowd of Obama supporters, IN PHILLY of all places, would have been totally irresponsible.
