yeah I know Tea Party... they were cool... had some pretty neat mid-eastern stuff going on... they listened to Kashmir... a lot I bet
Wow E, Man, it doesn't surprise me you're onto Tea Party (RIP)!! Jeff Martin does an old school blues/gospel thing now? I just found this..WTF??!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOyJ0jTxlvY
Tea Party had one of the best live sounds ever IMO. That dude is a natural talent..he always used a Matchless amp and LP. The drummer has alot of energy and that BIG ASS Bonham kick sound. BINGO! yeah, about 50% of their songs have a middle eastern vibe. You may know this more than I. They seem to be very "old school"..I assume they record on tape. Their stuff has a very warm, vintage anolog sound to them. I gotta find a song for you..let me see if I can find it. Yeah, "Drawing down the moon"..check it out.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3Xja4h7hNM
They are one of few non metal bands I really enjoy these days. Prolly because I'm still big on Zep, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Rainbow, Wishbone Ash, Spooky Tooth, Sab, Iron Butterfly, Glass Harp, The Guess Who, Free, Steppenwolf, Alice cooper, Thin Lizzy..stuff my dad liked...
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
Man I gotta put on "weed out the weak again"..James Murphy rules!! I'll pay more attention to the drums too.
Cool Bill. If you have any ideas about the drums, let me know. I always wondered how he got his sound. I think the liner notes say that the drums were recorded in the US rather than with the band. I'd guess they were done in the same place as the Burn My Eyes recording.
