Link me some eh? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just want to read some!

I've read things about Marty saying he left cos Megadeth weren't aggressive enough. And his solo albums, like "Music For Speeding" are miles better, and more aggressive, than any Megadeth album he was on other than RIP.
Whether he left because his talent wasnt being utilised or not is irrelevant. It clearly wasnt, and the albums are much worse for it. Why have a guy like him in the band on an album like Youthanasia?

What does "over mixed" mean? I don't understand these terms.

Drover's solos for me were a great contrast to Dave's. It was easy to tell who played what, and it was fucking brilliant to hear Megadeth songs that had TWO guitar solos again, one after the other, rapid fire, pushing the envelope. That's metal.

Watch the Megadeth documentary, it's on youtube.

I believe Marty is in video 6 or 7.

He wanted to play the music that was on Risk but knew he couldn't do it in Megadeth and the fans wouldn't appreciate it.

And the Killing Road solo is one of Marty's most brilliant solos.

Marty was immensely satisfied with his leads on Youth, more than any other.

Youth has some of Marty's most intense solo work. Just check the killing road. What makes you say something like that?

I enjoy youth and CTE, both in terms of ripping song and solo writing and production. I think Cryptic was a successful experiment in modern heavy metal while risk was a failed one
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

The whole album just sounds different to all the others. Not in the riffs, just the overall sound of it in its production. It sounds really multi layered to my ears.

It fucking great that you are digging Megadeth dude! likes of us are very few between in the UK, refreshing change to see someone not on the tallica wagon.
I must get a link of my tattoo from the megadeth website.....

Just listen to VICTORY solo on Youth, up there with Tornado as a marty solo!!

It was over produced for sure.

I've never in my life been confused about who is playing leads.

Poland sounded nothing like Dave, Marty sounded nothing like Dave, Pitrelli sounded nothing like Dave.

Jeff Young may have had a little bit of similarities but his staccato stuff was easy to differentiate from Mustaine's "dirty" shred.

                Drover was lifeless and boring.

                  That's mostly Mustaine.

I've been listening to Marty's solo stuff a lot lately, and then listened to Youthanasia and wondered where he was. Obviously a guitarists solo stuff will be more guitar heavy, but RIP seemed to me to use his talents to the full while no other 'Deth album did, and Youthanasia is the worst of them.
It's more commercial than Load too, which no one ever seems to mention. Metallica get all the flack, while Megadeth seem to be seen as the bastions of metal which simply isnt true.
Youth, Cryptic and Risk were all less than metal.

Youth is slow and boring. Cryptic is slow and not as boring but not very heavy. Yeah some of the songs are metal, but nothing like the stuff on RIP or their previous work.

And you've changed your tune from your earlier posts to me.

I loved Cryptic Writings and TWNAH. Al Pitrelli kicks ass, too!! TSHF and UA are just okay Megadeth albums, IMO, and I think Drover did a fine job.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Al was great, I'd have loved to have heard him trading solos RIP style on a much more metal oriented album.

That is a fuckin' cool Slayer tune. Maybe they are gonna have some real energy on the next tour (I saw them for the last album and they honestly did not seem into it - could be the arena venue is a turn off for them of sorts these days - too big).

At least those guys always still try to put out cool thrash.

BTW: Reign is THE album that all Slayer will be compared too (and most other metal for that matter). It set a standard. This is not subject to serious debate (alot of people like Metallica's Black Album as well, doent mean much more than it had admittedly high commercial success.

Also, comparing Megadeth and Slayer is apples to oranges (unless you are a rap or brittney fuckin spears fanboy).

King and Hanneman know they are not Marty and they have never tryed to be him. Thats in interviews too. They play one fuk of a tight rythm though.
"I''ll say what I'm gonna say, cuz I'm going to Hell anyway!"
