You dont need airbags. Get yourself a good 5 point harness and you'll be fine.
I dont have power steering or power brakes on my car...
That small bumper Maverick looks cool, I approve A friend of mine has a full tube chassis 72 Comet which is the cousin to that Maverick. His is not finished yet but these cars are light to begin with and with Ford V8 power should move along quite nicely! I have a 93 Mustang LX coupe but I have heavily modified it. It has a 9" rear end with Detroit Locker and 4.11 gears, Tremec 5 speed, and a home built 302 with nice quality machine work which is key to any performance engine. I have ditched the power steering, power brakes, AC, and radio. Those are un-necessary items. It has frame connectors, jacking rails, torque box stiffeners, 6 point roll bar and 5 way racing harnesses. The air bag is still in it but not really needed with all this safety stuff in the car. The car was recently dynoed and lets just say it makes several hundred horsepower Gotta love Mustangs and Musclecars! My other Mustangs are a 96 Mystic Cobra and an 04 Mystichrome Cobra. I also have a project car 65 Fastback thats a full tube chassis car set up for a 460 big block. Its a drag car which I purchased from the original owner's son with 26,000 original miles on it. Its too modified to go back to stock now.
1970,71, and 72 were the only years for the small bumpers on the front and back. 1973 had a medium sized bumper on front/small on the rear.
1974-77 had huge bumpers that were sized like a Ford Torino.
I love all older Fords, cause I grew up with that stuff. My dad has a 1979 Mercuri Capri that has a 377 stroked Windsor, and a built C4, 3.73 gears, etc...
For Fox bodies, I always liked the 1980 Cobra, '82 GT, 85-86 GT, and the '93 Cobra. I also liked the 1995 Cobra-R SVT that had the 351W in it from factory. It wasn't mass produced though.
My fav Ford's are the 1968-1/2 Mustang GT 428CJ, '69 428SCJ Stang, 69 Boss 302, 71 Boss 351, 70 Torino Cobra 429 SCJ, and the 70 Torino Cobra 351 Cleveland, 72 Torino 351 'Q' code..etc....you get the idea

My favorite is the 65 Shelby GT350. Of course I like the others as well especially the Boss 429. But I got started with the 65 Mustang and the Shelby was always the one I wanted. Unfortunately the 65 Shelby GT350 now sells for obscene amounts of money.
I like the 65 as well. Those were the Shelby's and the '66 was downtuned and more "luxurious" with all of those colors and other options.
The 65 was nothing more than a stripped down racer.
The Boss 429 was awesome as well, but the street versions didnt really live up to what they were capable of.
I like the 67 Shelby GT500 as well. Especially the GT500 Super Snake with the 427.
Good stuff here man!

Nice Maverick. I had a 71 and a 70. Still plan on having another one eventually.
And airbags. Blahhhhhhhhhh. If I hit somethig going fast enough for the sirbags to deploy then I'm probably going fast enough to kill myself even with the bags, LOL. I have an '02 GT right now but would love to get my claws on a clean notch when I have the cash.

Absolutely, just about any of those Shelbys. The earliest 66's were actually 65's but yes, I love the stripped down version 65. I would have even ordered it with the radio delete option The Boss 429 was capable of much more, you're right about that but I don't think they are as bad on the street as people think. I've seen a stock Boss 429 eat up a stock Hemi Challenger back in the early 80's in a street race. Also, there was a musclecar show last year on speed channel where they compared 5 (I think) musclecars including Chevelle LS6, Hemi Challenger, Boss 429, 442, GTO. They ran them through obstacle courses, braking distance, drag strip. Surprizingly the Boss 429 kicked their butts in most categories.
As for the Supersnake, unfortunately that was a one off so not much chance that anyone saw much of it. Good stuff indeed
Just a little update on this, I'm no longer interested in the 5.0's. I decided that for some extra cash I can get a overall nicer/newer/faster car, and won't have to spend a lot of money fixing it up, and I can spend a lot of money making it faster and louder! (If it's too loud, you're too old, right?)
So I'm looking for a 99-04 era stang, hopefully I'll find one soon. Z28's are also in the picture but I doubt that will happen.
