I always wondered how such incredible engines got into such ugly ass cars... could never around them being hatchbacks and the ugly ass front ends. Would have looked a lot better like the front on an AE86 Corolla. as for airbags on that car, I wouldn't care. Just allows you to retrofit a nice Sparco or Momo wheel to it without issue, which if you plan on autocross or drag events is something you would do anyway. I also would suggest a good, sportive racing seat that has been properly installed.
I would also think the V8 would contribute more to insurance pricing than the lack of airbags... never paid any premiums for it on our old Hyundai, but that was over 7 years ago since owning that car. The V8 issue is why for my next car I've been looking at 4 cylinderr ricers to skirt those (Nissan 240SX/S13, Toyota Corolla AE86 GT-S/Trueno being the main two atm). Those V8s do make some amazing torque though.
Also if you get wheels, I would suggest being careful about buying lower end ones. I forget the brand, but I've read on various Toyota forums Rota and Sportmax are CRAP. I would be very careful with those,as I was looking at a set for my Corolla before I found out the head gasket has found
My wife would agree with you. She thinks they're ugly as hell. She used to hate on mine big time before I sold it. When I told her I was looking into getting another one, she pulled a face.
Personally, I like the way they look. They look sort of utilitarian and understated to me. Kind of the same way muscle cars started out. The ones I really dislike are the SN95s. They look like freakin' jelly beans. No personality whatsoever. Oh, not to mention the fact that they are heavy ass slugs.
I say get it, airbabgs be damned. I love the Fox hatch, hate the notch. Fox was the last good looking Mustang till the S197 came along in 2005. I always wanted a fox body 'stang, but I do love my S197.

I love Mustangs. The 69 Mach 1 has to be my favorite.

I'm glad to get the positive reactions out of everyone. I hate the notchbacks, but for some reason I think that black Hatchbacks (like the one I'm going to get) are fucking sexy.
I also think that the Camaro's from the 90's up are ass ugly and look like door wedges.
I'm going to give the guy a call, I've been talking to him through some e-mails and the car seems to be in really good condition, I'm waiting on a few pictures of the interior and the exterior is in really good condition, he says there's a scratch on the left bumper but he'll get pictures. If she's not a total fix me the fuck up car, I'm going to get it.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Back in the late 80's early 90's best bang for the buck for speed. Had an 88 GT, frkn' fire breather. Fast as hell (after minor mods). Fun car, want another one.
