    I have always loved the late 80's stangs. I prefer the LX coup myself but the gt h-backs were cool too.

        That car is the example of what great paint does. It looks tolerable. I just don't like open headlights on the flat-faced hatchbacks of the era, much preferring the pop-ups.




        Same chassis, different front end (one is a Levin, one is a Trueno). Pop ups just flow better on that style of car. Also, it seems to be though the Mustang's kind of cuts off too soon in the back, like the slope is too dramatic. To each there own I guess.

                I gotta admit.. this is the first time I have every heard somebody who was worried about airbags in a 5.0 Stang.
                Honestly... having them is a great idea for a Mustang driver. I would suggest a 5 pt harness and wear a helmet with a neck brace too because if you are like most of the other Mustang drivers around here you will eventually crash it if you don't blow it up first.
                Looks like a nice car. Have a compression test done on it and make sure the rear boxes aren't rotted out.

                  Nice car. One of my buddies has an 03 Cobra SVT 30th Anniversary model. Its 400hp supercharged from the factory. His son has an 06 Jack Rousch Mustang that is Stage 2. Its 600hp and has a gigantic turbo on it. Its white with blue stripes.

                    I drive a 1987 MKIII Supra. Its my daily driver. Its a monster of a car and it does absolutely everything one would expect from a Supra.

                      I have to agree with JG on this one.
                      What is up with worrying about an airbag?

                      I don't think that even influences your insurance rate. My brother's 66 ford didn't even have lap belts in it until we installed them, and the insurance is 1/2 what my jeep wrangler is and that was 1/2 of what my Cobra was.

                      Full vs liability coverage influences that more.

                      And as for styling, the 1987 stang lights were added to the 1979-82 body to make it more "modern" - which was AWESOME at the time, but time was not kind to the stang of that era.

                      The current stangs definitely look better to today's eyes, we are just a few years away from mullets, IROCS, and 1987 GTs being "classic" and "classy", so hang on.

                      When I had a sweet ass mullet and a hot rod with N profile Poly tires in the back, 185-60-15 in the front on centerlines, bell bottoms were hilarious and NWA was a cutting edge rap band. If the stang gets you off, GO FOR IT!!!!

                        JG, you change cars more often than I change underwear. Didn't you have a neon with nitrous or something recently?

                          I have had at least 30 cars. I still have the Neon. I also have an SER Sentra and the Supra. My son drives the Neon and I drive the Supra although technically its his car. I have always been a Mopar guy mainly but I gotta tell you, the Supra is an outstanding road car.

                            The chassis code on that a MA70 or the MA71 with the 7M-GTE Turbo engine out of interest? I've been considering one as they are fairly cheap too. No one seems to want Supra's around here unless they are the MarkIV.

                              Same thing around here. Mine is the 7M-GE
                              I rebuilt the entire top half of the motor over the summer because of course.. it blew a head gasket. That is the only thing to watch for with these cars. The factory screwed up and only torqued the head down to 52ft/lbs when it should have been 72. Because of this.... probably 85% of all MKIII's have blown a head gasket. Once its fixed correctly the drivetrain on these cars are practically bullet proof.
                              Most people want MKIV's around here too. MKIII's are really hard to find and rarely seen. There are only a few in our city.
                              Ours has American Racing black/silver rims, a JDM rear wing, new tires, exhaust, totally rebuilt and detailed motor, K&N cold air kit, and power everything including TEMS.

                                Oh yea.. its not really a zippy fast light to light car. Its more like a 60-140 car.
                                Also, it has tremendous roll on performance at around 40mph and it rides so smooth. It should.. it weighs 3600lbs. Its extremely stable on the highway at ANY speed.
                                To me.. its a super touring sports car.
